for some ppl this might be common sense, but i've just recently learned of this process and it totally works/make sense in cooking bud brownies, cake, pancakes, etc. As in any good recipe for baking with bud, u should start with making the butter, simmering bud in a frying pan along side butter to activate the THC, prepare it for baking now.. here's the new process to add into your recipe, the problem alot of new users have when baking are that they burn the cron right away, the butter is simmering on a high heat, you toss in the bud and it's almost instantly brown and burnt, burning up THC and losing effectiveness solution? Put a large pot 3/4 full of water onto the stove top element, bring the water to a boil and see at what setting the water maintains a good boil now you put the frying pan ON TOP of the pot, this way there is absoltuely no possible way to burn your butter/bud, because the steam is what is heating the frying pan, it cannot get red hot this way, therefor it cannot burn the bud to a crisp like it would otherwise although the highest heat will work fine and simmer nicely, i'd advise to test the frying pan with only butter first, see if it simmers as soon as it's put into the frying pan, or if it takes a little bit, if it takes longer then a few seconds for the butter to melt, turn up the heat
a simpler fix is to put water in with the butter.. you can then stick your water/butter mix in the fridge after cooking and the leaf matter will settle and the butter will rise to the top and harden
the only way you risk burning anything is if you boil down all the water.. and well if you do that.. you probably should give up anyways
i've been making brownies for years and i've never strayed from the simplest method. butter+weed(ground up) on a simmer for 5-10 minutes in a small pan while stirring. strain plant matter and mix with brownies or cookie mix, cook on 325 for 30 minutes. tips: 1-THC vaporizes at 328 degress farenheit, so don't cook at a temperature higher than that or you'll lose potency. 2-If you are adding plant matter to the mix and not straining it out, add extra water to compensate for the extra dry material.
I have found this method to be inconvenient because you have to wait for the water and butter to seperate. With the double boiler method it is ready to use almost right away. I use a strainer and or a cheesecloth to take out the plant matter and that way you have straight butter.
I have found you don't need more than 3 grams of weed to a quarter pound of butter. That was using swagg.
i usually try and do at least an 1/8th to a stick.. but sometimes its nice to get fucked and do like a 1/2oz to a cup
if its shwagg then a half ounce is absolutely necessary. if its hydro, early-bird, then a quarter might be all thats necessary. if its haze then just an eighth will be fine. happy baking!
It's not difficult to do this kind of cooking. You shouldn't burn anything if you just add the oil (or butter) to the sauce pan and put it on low heat. Get it nice and warm and then add the hash/bud. Then watch it very carefully and slowly raise the heat until you begin to see miniature bubbles forming in the oil. At this point you've reached boiling temperature so you can back off the heat and just let the oil and THC do the rest of the work. I give it about 20-30 minutes in the warm oil bath. Keep it just below the simmering threshold and you should never burn your project. Nor should you ever require a double boiler setup. I've done this many times over many years and I have never made less than stellar brownies. I don't know if it's how I cook them, how finely I chop the weed/hash, or how well I scrape the pan to get every drop of oil out.... but what I do know is that when I make brownies... YOU CAN ONLY EAT ONE BITE!
^^^ some people don't understand what "low" means.. trust me.. i know.. i work in a kitchen.. and there has been plenty of times. you got and tell someone to fill a pot with something and tell them to put it on low heat.. next thing you know you're lookin at a scorched pan
Haha dude, Totally get what you mean by one bite. One time a buddy of mine made a batch of brownies where you only needed one bite of the brownie to get you stoned. Well I ate the whole thing and I was waaay waaay waaay high. Took one bite the next time I ate it, and I knew why I shoulda taken only a bite.
