British TV is better than American TV. That's not to say it's good, but it's better. Channel 4 = free HBO. They still show Lexx on five, but you can't get that everywhere. Don't get BBC Digital, apparently it's shite, and they put the best (least worst) programmes on BBC2 after a few weeks anyway.
what the hell is lex all about , i catch it if i can't sleep ??? BBC freeview (digital) is alright, but yeah not worth singing and dancing about. Can't wait till they switch of the analouge signal...then those channels will be watched more..BBC4 is very good, when i am trying to believe i am clever..hahahah *sigh*.
Lexx is in its fourth season, it might be too late to get into it, but in a nutshell: The Lexx is a giant insect spaceship which can blow up planets. It was stolen by Stanley Tweedle (guy in the red boiler suit), Kai (the goth, who is an undead assassin), Xev (a girl given a love slave body) and 790 (a robot accidentally given a love slave personality). They destroyed the Light universe at the end of the second series, and so are now in the universe of Darkness (there is no discernable difference). Having drifted in cryostasis for ages looking for a planet to live on, they ran out of fuel and ended up in orbit around Fire and Water, two planets where no-one can die, and which seemed to represent Heaven and Hell. Here they meet Prince, the master of Fire, who is essentially Satan. Some stuff happened (I didn't really get it), and they ended up destroying Fire and Water, but Prince survived, and was last seen spiralling through space towards a planet a lot like Earth. Cue start of fourth series, which I haven't really been watching. Last I saw, the Lexx had destroyed Orlando. All good fun in my book.
I have watched a lot of it , but never avidly ... i watched an episode with Craig charles in and another with Van helsing ??? yep i agree it is all good fun. Probably should not get overly concerned with the plot i guess. I enjoy farscape, that lost the plot a while back . and xev is hot with a capital H
Is Farscape still going then? Thought they'd actually properly ended it. If the "To Be Continued" at the end wasn't a joke than I've lost most of my respect for the show. I haven't seen many of the more recent ones, the first series proper was basically "Find planet, try to get laid, blow up planet" for about 20 episodes, with this arc plot about swarm arms which eventually resulted in them destroying the universe. The Fire/Water one was much more plot orientated, and generally less fun. What I've seen of the new series is quite unbelievably fucked up, but back to the series' roots of being a good laugh and not trying to be thought-provoking in any way. The main reason I like it is because it's cool and weird, but hasn't been hijacked by stoners yet, so it's still cultish in the true sense of the word. The first few, the pilots, had Malcolm MacDowell and Rutger Hauer in, as well as a more Teutonic looking Xev, and a non-gay 790. I'm amazed it's still going though. it must be a hit somewhere to be on its third/fourth series. I know it airs in Germany and Canada, anyone got any ideas?
farscape is still going ... a couple of films are likely. wel i think the numerous production companys and weird tax excempt nature of this and that and the multitude of diffrent banking firms they use keeps lex afloat.
Kewl When/what's Farscape on? I haven't seen any since (SPOILER IN CYAN: hilight to read) Aeryn and Crichton got blown up in a rowboat
It was on the sci fi channel (they finance it now) ... but i borrow DVDs from a mate ..so am not upto speed with that. I think they won't be doing any full series, just mini series. Farscape: The peacekeeper wars is the first.
england is great, in leeds there is this street that is literally paved with gold and everyone smokes cigars and wears spats and capes of the finest mink. they ride their slaves to work and everyones name begins with the letter "R" except callum but he is a stupid and gets hit alot. Anyway everyone eats bournville chocolate and apricot jam, and those fancy walkers crisps with that tara palmer tompkinson on the adverts. oh i do i wish i lived on Squeeky street
Ok,some serious questions: Are independent media outlets big over there? What the legal status of marijuana? How long will William Blair be in office(correct me if I've got the wrong country )
Marijuana [sp?] is a C class drug, and depending on where you live, people tend to turn a blind eye. Not sure about independent media outlets, but while I'm sure the foaming conspiracy theorists will have my hide for saying this, BBC and Channel 4 news is pretty even-handed and unbiased. And Lionel Blair has said he will step down at the end of his next term in power; the arrogant prick is working to the assumption that we'll let him have another one, and the worst part is he's probably right.
next term means the one after this one right? I remember hearing about how he may be getting impeached...was that true at all?
Hahaha, that's a good one. Blair won't get impeached, I don't quite understand why, but no matter how hard we try he won't take the hint. We all smell whitewash, very strongly. I think the election is next year, so hopefully we'll be rid of him by then. Otherwise we've got him for another three years. I really seriously detest the smug bastard, but not as much as I detest the mindless cattle of the country who will reelect him because The LibDems Will Never Get In. May have been said already, but: where are you coming to the UK from?
Yeah the BBC is actually an independent media outlet, the largest and best in the world, and is pretty unbiased.
Newspapers are owned buy rich people and they print diffrent national newspapers saying wildly diffrent things..confusingly...but they just print what the audience wants to hear mostly, the facts are correct to a point but its just the multitude of opinions all prety much geared towards the target audience.. I think TV news is sourced from Reuters and ITN and of course the BBC do all there stuff themselves BBC monitoring http://www.monitor.bbc.co.uk/aboutus.shtml (not that you would notice) yeah they are unbiased but thats frustrating at times....because they do still say the same crap all the others say , they have their agenda just like everyone. Independat media programes if i am right are bought buy the major networks depending on if their audience will watch...with some made 'in house'. marijuana is very illegal but its true it does depend were when and how your caught with it..but don't tempt fate walking down the local high street. enjoy at home hahaha hahahah His name is Tony Blair http://www.number-10.gov.uk/output/page4.asp and a few crazy scottish mps thought it would be funny to speculate if he could get impeached.... it was a bit of a slow news week so it got more coverage than it rightly deserved. you can't beat it (though some of the residents need a slap)
The Beeb's agenda was to bring unbiased news to the people. Then the Greg Dyke thing happened, and for a while I think they thought "Fuck it, why even bother?" because they pretty much presented the truth and had to sack someone for it (although not really).
