I had no idea these actually existed.

I used to joke with my fiance about getting one, with the band tattooed around it, not knowing that they were actually real.

    anybody here have one?

    It's just a microdermal.

I got three of them done yesterday on my temple. You can put 'em anywhere.

I kinda think I might get one.

how is the healing process with them? or does it vary depending on where they are located

Salt soaks, the usual with any piercing.

And they are permanent y'know ;D Can only be removed surgically

Yeah, after a while your skin actually bonds to it. So the longer you have it, the more tedious the removal.

It's supposed to heal in two months or so. I wouldn't wanna get one on my finger, that shit'd be constantly getting bumped and yoinked, which would really screw up the healing process.

    that's innarresting
I'd definitely have to think about it for a while.
plus I am flat broke due to moving expenses, so I have no excess for frivolities.

how do they stay in there?

I'm guessing no more skin tight wool gloves due to possible snagging?

I didn't know you could get your fingers pierced! that's awesome. I have 8 piercings right now, and I've got plans to get at least 7 more, not including more for my ears. Now I'm debating fingers. ha.

Looks so painful, like you're going to get it caught on all sorts of stuff!

It's a cool idea to get a piercing like that though. Maybe somewhere else, I would put them on my stomach or face like toolmaggot! I love the idea of having them on your temple, they are pretty cool.

Good luck and let us know if you get one done!

I know a dame that has 'em on her hips, where most people put surface piercings. Because well, they look like surface piercings, but heal infinitely better.

i just found out about these a couple days ago theyre pretty awesome plus you can get them anywhere. deff thought about getting a few but remembered i have to get MRI's all the time so i thought twice about it....the thought of having them ripped out isnt very appealing to me

They don't fuck with MRIs. They're implant grade titanium and completely inert.

But yeah, once they bond with yr skin, I hear it's quite a chore to get 'em out.

sweet imma double check though just because the last thing i want during one of my MRIs is for those things to start heating up or anything cuz they always make me take all my earrings out and one of my sets is titanium. but hey if they arent gonna interfere imma be all for some cuz theyre fucking sexy

For the most part the reason you have to take piercings out for MRIs is because they create blips on the image. Any non-ferrous metal shouldn't react at all in an mri:

    Magnetic Resonance Imaging
    Non-ferrous = no iron = non magnetic.

All sorts of metals are non ferrous. Steel contains iron, though many alloys contains such a low amount that they wouldn't be a problem. Still though, with the immmense strength of the magnetic force in an MRI I would just make sure to not have any steel on at all.

Oh and I have my own question about the microdermals. It appears to have a post that sticks out of your skin, does this mean you could maybe remove the stud temporarily (say for work or something) without messing up the piercing/healing process? I'm actualyl new to the world of piercing so I'm still learning. I'd like to get a couple piercings soon but need to have the ability to take them out for work and such. I was hoping that once the piercing has healed for a while then it's safe to remove the ring/stud for a few hours.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread at all, just full of questions :)

My piercer's own words - "Yeah, if you get an MRI or something, they're not about to fly outta yr head or anything... you'll be able to see them on a scan, but it won't like, heat up and melt yr face or anything."

You can change the studs, but not until the thing's fully healed, and even then, it's probably a better idea to go back to yr piercer and have him change them.

If you were to try and twist off the stud while it's still healing, there's a possibility that the anchor itself will spin around under the tissue. I'm sure you can imagine, that's bad news bears. Even after it's healed, unless you get a good grip on the post, trying to twist off the studs puts a lotta stress on the underlying tissue. Piercers have special little forceps that grab the post really good, then they can take the stud off and put on a new one.

It really is a permanent piercing, and not one that can be easily covered up, if it's on yr face or something. Even if you did leave the top studs off, you'd have a 14g post sticking up outta yr skin.
