So, I'm back. I was here before, but I'm starting over again. Uh, I don't believe I made an introduction post or anything. I was a bit of a horrible member. So, here we go. I'm from up in Michigan. I'm currently 16. Basically. I play guitar. And when not that, idolize everything that is music (namely Hendrix, Grateful Dead, etc.). I also play the piano, and have for a good fraction of my years. When I'm not doing that, I basically spend my time using the computer. And expanding my mind. However, not through drugs. Basically, the internet is quite gold-mine of information. I stumbled on the motherload (hipforums) a while ago, became an active member, and then just kinda died out. But I'm back. Hopefully for good. Cause if I recall correctly, there are some amazing people here. And it is those that I hope to be conversing with soon. ~Seth~
Thanks. It's good to be back Was just going to say the same thing. I don't know. I've been trying to stay away from them. I'm often spacey enough to start with. I don't really need herbal aid. But I may look into growing. It looks like a really interesting process to me. And a friend introduced me to D.M.T. It seems pretty interesting. But I'm too big of a chicken to try out the psychedelics. :/
Hey there & Welcome back. Glad you found your way back amongst us. Nah, you don't need drugs, life is a high in itself. Keep yer mind clear and concentrate on your music. I have enough trouble speaking English as it is... Peaceful thoughts your way.... Farmout
Yeah. I drifted away. And realized what I used to be a part of. And quickly returned. Luckily, it's just as I remember. Yeah. I'm thinking avoiding all that extra stuff is my best route. As much as so many people will say otherwise, I kinda don't really listen to others about much. So, yeah. Music it is. P.S. Thanks for the welcome
No, I can't say that I've ever recorded. Yeah, I'd really like to sooner or later. I have a few friends, and I've been trying to get a band together. Sadly, nobody else is really as music-obsessive as I am. So it hasn't really been working too well.
When you start recording, I hope you'll enjoy it. Aww, I understand. It's the same with me (lack of success at getting a band together). Have you thought of releasing solo recordings on the side? (Also, have you considered posting an ad on Craigslist? Maybe you can find a kindred musical spirit in your area from there who would be more than happy to make sweet music with you.)
I've considered it. I'm kinda shy around new people though. And as far as solo goes, I've considered it. I don't have any recording equipment, and I'm too poor to buy any of it. That's ok. Making music makes me happy. And I can't really ask for more than that Have you ever did any recordings? If so, have you released them?
I understand how you feel, I haven't posted Craigslist ads for the same reason. Grr, shyness. Hmm, you could always use the program Audacity (it's free and very good, considering that it doesn't cost anything). Link is here. If you download it, you might want to also download a lame mp3 encoder (it will make it possible for you to export your audio files as mp3s in Audacity, and it's easy to put in): Link here. If you have a mic that plugs into your computer (I got one on ebay for a dollar and I've seen them in stores for about six dollars), you could record that way (or you can record from your guitar straight to the computer using a line-in cable. I believe that's the terminology for it but I have not yet used that method so I'm afraid I don't know much about it, sorry). Yep, I've been recording (using Audacity, mainly) for a couple of years. I've put some of my demos on the web secretly, but haven't officially released anything yet (I'm a perfectionist control-freak when it comes to my music. Are you the same way?). It's great that music makes you happy. That's the best thing. I hope that never goes away. Oh, how would you describe your sound?
p.s. here's another free program that's apparently very good. Recommended by a friend: Kristal Audio Engine
Yeah. I've had a pretty decent amount of experience working with Audacity. I actually used it with producing our school podcast. I've been considering buying some recording stuff. Maybe a condenser microphone or something like that. I've just been worried I'd buy something and then probably not use it very much. And I don't want to do that. But I've actually found a friend who is really interested in doing stuff. Actually, we're set to get together on Sunday. So we'll see how that works out. I'm pretty excited.
So you wouldn't release material that you recorded with Audacity? Is it because it's not professional-sounding enough or something? Well, fair enough, everyone has their own recording preference. Ah. Is there something you'd buy that you could see yourself using often? Oh, excellent! That really must be exciting. Good luck, I hope you'll find that you have great musical chemistry together.
Nah. I would release stuff that I produced in Audacity. I didn't mean I didn't want to use audacity. I just meant I'd like to buy some more advanced recording equipment. Audacity would work fine for the software. And yeah, I'm kinda hesitant to buy a microphone and stuff. I'm scared I won't use it often enough to warrant the purchase And thanks
