Ok, I have been smoking for a bit now. Tried it over ten plus years ago, smoked for a little bit here and there then really started to smoke on a regular basis starting about three or four years ago. Right after I kicked my wife out of the house, but that is a whole other story. I have not been out of weed once during that four year or so period. I have had several dealers and during that time I have never been able to get any real name brand stuff to my knowledge. Now, at one point I was really into trying every kind of weed I could get my hands on so I would just buy weed from anyone. I had weed from three different dealers and they were all different in their own way. I even liked to blend them to get different kinds of effects. I was getting to the point of naming my weed after my dealers, because to them and me they would just say it was weed. I once asked my guy for some cheep weed, to cook with and he brought me some of what I figured out was a bricked ditch weed from Mexico. It was a little harsh but overall not that bad and was good for cooking. I have been told that I had Kush once but to me that is like saying it was good weed. I was also told that I got some stuff from Canada once. It was good and mellow and I would say it was close to a White Widow in color. Now I say white widow but I have never really seen it other than pictures. Most of the time I get what my current guy calls dro. I live in Chicago and I have asked many times for some name brand stuff and to me it just looks, tastes and feels like the same shit I have had before and gives my dealer a reason to charge me more for the same shit. Again, the best my dealer has offered me in the way of name brand is Kali Kush. Now, I am not saying that I don't know what good weed is, I feel that I have at least enough experience to tell the difference. However, I can't seem to get anything you guys often talk about. Sour Diesel, Purple Haze, White Widow, Bubblegum just to name a few. Hell, I would love to try some Strawberry Cough. Does anyone have any suggestions. Most of my guys are secondary dealers and I only buy about an ounce every other month or so. I used to buy more and more often but I find I smoke less in the winter and even more so after I moved in with my fiance. Just looking for a little help on how I sould go about getting name brands. Grow. Or go to Cali. Other than that you'll need to buy from the grower (assuming he grows name brand chronic) or get it from someone trustworthy who gets it from the grower. Not that it's impossible to kno what you're smokin otherwise but prolly unlikely
I have been thinking about growing, and have made a couple of trys at this and the best I was able to get was about a month before they died of various reasons. I don't have a green thumb. I have been using bag seeds because I want to be able to grow first before I buy name brand seeds. No point killing something I had to pay extra for.
I think I have been able to find enough information on the web to do what I want to do in my grow room. However, I just fail at it. I was just wondering about Name Brand weed in my area. Does it exhist in Chicago or just in California?
i get name brand weed every once in a while here ohio but not very often, and it is always very expensive. not saying its not worth it though! the name brand strains i got always were a noticable effect better than the other weed i usually smoke eg sour diesel, AK47, lemon kush(actually tasted like lemons and i got so high i had to go to sleep about 30 min after smoking because my senses were too pwerful) just to name a couple
lol spidey sense weed i don't know much about name shits, but i had some lemony ass shit in NYC that put my ass to sleep for literally 15 hours

Got some BC Kush this time around and my dealers trying to pick up some white widow for next time but this is one of the first times ive actually got name brand shit.... My freind claimed his stepdad got purple haze a few weeks ago but im almost certain thats a lie (this kid is a goof about weed)... Ussually hard to find, name brand comes in fits and starts
Startreken.. you're in a BIG city... most of which is supplied with marijuana brought in by Eme... mexican mafia for one.. i know.. i've made a couple runs to chicago/rockford back in the day.. but really.. getting name brands is ALL about your connections.. and usually name brands come in smaller quantities... not often is someone gonna bring in 100s of lbs of Kush or Cough.. unlike its cheaper cousins the beasters and schwag.. around here its tough to get name brands cuz usually the source only has a couple lbs at most.. and its spread out through area cities.. but you seem like a man that could use a vacation.. i would definitely head to cali and just bring back samples from every dispensary you can possibly hit up
Ya know, I could use a vacation....... I have always wanted to go to California. However, I have decided that I will be going to Amsterdam for my bachelor party. So I have that to look forward to some time next year. You are right this is a big city, the best I have been able to find is the "Kali Kush" or so I was told that's what it was. It was good weed. For the most part the weed that I have bought is either a mid or better so I guess I can't really complain. The only time I ever bought schwagg was for cooking. My weed contacts over the years have been for the most part second hand dealers, low level gang members and of course food service workers. As a result I tend to pay more than I should. Being a very mainstream looking guy who is almost 40, I have not been able to get into the culture enough to fit in and make the right connections. Hell, even at this point I am just happy to be able to keep in stock. I have never been out in almost four years. Like I said before I tend to ask for something better and they tell me this is the best stuff and then just charge me more for it. So I usually just go with the flow. My only fear I guess comes down to the fact that I don't want to piss of a source I already have. If I ever find a better source, as I have in the past I tend to give them all my business. At my "highest" point I was buying like half an ounce to an ounce a month. Also, keep in mind that I share this stash with my best friend. The thing about it for me is that being a chef I tend to think of weed like food ingredients. As a connoisseur I just like the idea of having a fine selection of weed to share with friends and be able to rank it like wine. I want to blend and create these blends for different reactions. My romantic nature. As I said before I had like 4 different kinds of weed once and it was fun to compare and blend. You should see my slections of liquor, wine and cigars. I have a very well stocked bar of like 40 different kinds of liquor. Hell, I have 7 differnet kinds of vodka alone. My wine selections range but I never have less than a case of wine in the house at any given time. I just wish I could carry over my appreciation for the finer things to include my weed. I guess I will just have to grow my own if I want to really be able to do this right. I figure I can grow up to four plants safely. I just don't have the time to do it right. Thanks for the help.
i think the same way.. i've often wondered how well you could match different strains of weed with food and wine.. but i dont have connections to go "ok.. today im gonna try some Kush with a pasta dish in a white sauce matched with a nice chardonnay"
If I do it right I might be able to do that some time next year. Good news, so I'm getting an ounce of what my dealer says is Bubble Kush. So, I am looking forward to seeing what this is like. I checked out the discription of what I should look for on Grasscity so I hope it is the same. Either way I am going to chalk it up to experience. If it meets my expectations I will let you know.
