five other films from the late 60's....."nam's angels" starring wm. smith in which a motorcycle gang save the day in vietnam...."c.c. and company" another biker film starring ann-margeret and joe namath...."the green berets".a film that caused controversey and protests at the theatres because of it's pro war views during the vietnam war.john wayne had the starring role...."medium cool" depicted the events surrounding the 1968 democratic convention in chicago.i rented this film recently and was reminded of the social relevance it has to today's world....."200 motels" a frank zappa film.poorly received during it's release it has become more popular with time on video.

    Yellow Submarine ;)

and good call on Billy Jack... was that Jennifer 19?
the fight scene where the people come from behind the trees was filmed right around the corner from where I live.

My understanding is that Tom Mclaughlin intends to make a run against Arnold

a movie called "Joe" released in 1970

    A Man Called Horse (1970)

Endless Summer... a surf film was cool

    Fantasia... Fritz The Cat

back then .. Hollywood wasn't all that hippie oriented... most of us went to see underground movies... Hollywood was PART of the establishment

    Floyd..Live at Pompeii

Now I don't know if these would be classified as hippy movies- but these are the movies that I really liked back in the sixties.

    The Magic Christian
    If
    Gold
    Mondo Mod
    Strawberry Statement
    Gass-s-s-s
Zachariah- a man who is ahead of his time
and also any movie by Fellini [an Italian director].

There's this really great movie that accurately portrays hippies as utterly insane cult members-- it's called 'I Drink Your Blood'. They terrorize a small town and become infected with rabies!

Also, 'Helter Skelter', about the king of the hippies, Charles Manson.

And another good one is 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' where some hippies get cut up by a chainsaw-wielding maniac.

Also, 'Dirty Harry' has a gay hippie in it, as is typical for hippies, he shoots people for fun.

Finally, my favorite hippie movie has to be 'Hippies Are Filthy Disgusting Perverts', which I am currently working on and in which hippies have a very central role.

    The Last Waltz

If you like old music. A documentary with performances by Niel Young, Clapton, Van Morrision, Muddy Waters. Great while-stoned entertainment. :D
