I am roman catholic. I have been confirmed, I am thankful that this was done for me before I was stupid enough to question it. I have never confessed (apparently you are supposed to at confirmation), and did not pay much attention in church class. I figure the first of many religious texts I should read is the bible... I don't mind a challenging read- but do not want to waste time on out dated church filler bullshit- can anyone suggest a good version that is not so boring to read.
In the Catholic college, that is affiliated with my public University, in which I take classes seems to have a large stock of New Revised Standard Version Bibles. I like it, but my biggest problem is that it is gender inclusive, so where it says brothers, it adds "and sisters" et cetera. As far as I know they don't separate it with brackets or anything of the sort. That is the reason I like the plain Revised Standard Version. Regardless of what you pick (there are many many options) I suggest finding one with footnotes to explain terms and to reference other parts, as well I recommend finding one that has the complete Catholic canon (Tobias, Judith, Baruch, Ecclesiasticus, Wisdom, First and Second Machabees; also certain additions to Esther and Daniel).
what ever the lord leads u to , if u are at a book store and u are drawn towards a certain few bibles look them over for god is the light and the way and though that he will also guide though his word what u need to read or pick up to share to the world i have been listing to a local christian station in my area and that is something that has been shown to me though listening to the words and praze of God

My favorite Bible version is the New King James version. I would recommend reading first the Book of John and then the Book of Romans......both in the New Testament
Check out Issac Asimov's Guide To The Bible. You can probably order it online, or get it at a library. http://www.amazon.com/Asimovs-Guide...bs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1232851663&sr=8-1
