I got into a coversation recently with a friend of mine, he was telling me how every dollar we make is actually anothers debt, therefore every dollar we make is really going nowhere. He then went on to say that the way society works now is a kind of slavery, where the slaves pay for their own housing, food, and nessecities. I was interested in this topic but could not really find the facts behind his words. I was wondering if any of you guy's had any facts on this, i dont have a big understanding on the way our monetary system works.
Me neither, and I think it's because they don't really want anyone to understand. About the time they started telling me that paper money needed to be backed by gold, they lost me. Last time I checked, paper money was a handy form of barter. I work, you pay, I buy sort of thing. I guess all the suckers of the world finally just plain bought too much stuff on credit! now, everyone owes money to everyone else, and even if everyone could pay the money they owe to everyone else (which they can't), there is so much money owed that there would not be enough of it to go around if they tried... Yup. It's all because everybody thought they should have something for nothing and pay for it later... So, everyone who got credit is a slave because you have to work into next year to pay for what you got today. But that makes you a slave to your THINGS and your DESIRES, not the system. The system (society) is dangling the carrot, and people actually have the ability to CHOOSE if they bite or not. But if they DO, it's a trap.
your last paragraph is only somewhat true. You don't HAVE to take part however to get the lifestyle common to most people in this country you almost have to get into debt. Even if you use any money however, the whole currency is now based on speculation and debt now.
If you want a detailed read on the subject look here: http://mises.org/money.asp The short version is that the Federal Reserve, which is a private bank and not government owned, loans other banks and the government money, which in turn loan money to people and companies. That is where all of the current US money comes from. Similar situations exist in other countries. Look at the top of any dollar bill and see what is printed there, Federal Reserve Note. What is a note? Banking Dictionary: Note 1. Legal evidence of a debt or obligation. A financial instrument consisting of a promise to pay (Promissory Note), rather than an order to pay, a bill of exchange, or a certificate of indebtedness, a Bond. So our money really has no value, it is debt. When you exchange dollars you are trading debt.
This documentary explains it pretty well in layman's terms. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7065205277695921912
Well, actually then, it is absolutely true. It is a trap! Because like I pointed out, you don't HAVE to take part. People just THINK they do because they think they HAVE to live just like everyone else. "to get the lifestyle common to most people". Yea, so that's where folks need to make some adjustments. What "most" people think of as necessities, are actually luxuries...
Money is printed out of what they don't have. It's simply printed out of thin air and has nothing backing it. The more credit they create, the more debt there is and thus the more control the banks have over the government and the people themselves. Money in itself is worth nothing more than the paper it's printed on. It's only worth something because the banks say it is.
The Movie: Wizard of Oz capitalized on the complexities of gold backed currency An Oz.of Gold backing the currency. A wizzard behind a curtian pulling the lever and residents of The Emrald City Laughing thier day away in the wonderfull land of Oz. A portrait of a prosperity begot by the miracle of a gold backed currency and central bank capital manipulation. Streets paved with bricks of gold. Alegorical representatives of American industries visiting The Wizzard to petition for redress of crisis. Scarecrow (Agriculture) Tin Man (industry) and Lion ( Banking / Wall Street ) Were fobbed off by the Wizzard with encouraging words, certificates and trophies. Seems like todays petitioners have made off like bandits. Old Oz showed some restraint.
well then yeah, I guess you hit the nail on the head then! Cycle should be broken with bartering for goods and services rather than magic paper. I would be interested to see someone living in the USA or any modern nation and not have to use any paper money whatsoever short of living in a cave. I am sure it has/can be done, just would take a butt-load of creativity.
