What new subject do you think should be taught at school?

Oh god yes. My brother took Electronics and he complains about it, apparently they teach you what to do but not why to do it. Etc. He gets my mum to help him. xD

School just annoys me sometimes. The asdan class gets to do film making, Argh, I'd love to be able to do that but shit, you gotta be pathway B for that (bottom set in at least one subject).

They're teachers, they are supposed to teach and yes that means following the rules, it also means respecting others and working hard etc. etc. It's what they do. I'm sure it's worse in other schools, ours is fairly laidback at the best of times.

 

I'm not talking about the teachears in genaral. I'm talking about the system they work by.
I respected my teachers, but I hated being put out of class simply because I disagreed with something obviously wrong. I got punished being critical. critical thinking is not allowed at school. you have to believe everything they teach you without questioning. This is not respecting your pupils. this is indoctrination.

 

That's not true. Critical thinking is actually very welcome at most schools. Besides, not a lot of subjects demand critical thinking.....Like, chemistry, math, physics, languages.....School is suppose to teach you facts, not raise you or shape your personality.

There ain't much time for shaping your personality when being busy with school most of your youth. a time where most personality shaping occurs.
school exploits that fact. there ain't much time for raising left either.

in the grand scheme of things, of course not. but since you keep describing a situation that is so unlike what most people experienced, it does make me curious.

Life isn't all about enjoyment. Reality sucks.
And school doesn't exploit anything. You're talking about it like there's some serious brainwashing going on in schools.

They should have more government classes and economics classes.

They should also have more computer skills classes, they're growing so fast
and instead of talking about the history, focus on now and the future.

I took math for years and I forgot most of it. I know the basics and plus some but unless you want to be a math major, theres really no point in pounding it in our brains

instead of basic science...put biology, human biology..environmental..

We had sociology and psychology in our school. I took sociology. I loved it, it was something different..and I would like to see more of the social sciences in there

Basic gardening and health...nature and housing. really SHOULD be taught by the parents. I took a business class and failed it because I couldnt get it but when I sat down with my mom. I got it, so I think parents should cover that. not the schools

When reading romeo and juilet..all that in english...i think its a good thing for public speaking, it helps expresses you

they should cut spanish IMO. This is America not mexico. Theres no need to learn spanish unless you're in college and have a career where you need to learn it

Well, I have to learn Russian in school because there's like 3938 million Russians here and I hate it so I understand where she's coming from.

well just spanish. Theres really no point. this country needs to grow some balls and tell the mexicans that want to live here, to learn english..period
