So I have dandruff.. Bad! And I think it's dr bronners that did it. I learned that dandruff is a fungus and that's why it itches. So what do I do to get all of the flakes out of my dreads and allieviate the itchyness? Keep in mind that I'm only about five weeks in. And that I have absolutely no herbal knowledge, and don't know where to get them. (ps anyone going to a Phish concert? I just found out they're coming to Indiana so I'm sooo going)
i shall saaaayy... when you rinse the bronners, make sure you rinse and rinse and rinse again, that might help.. i have no advice about herbs etc cause im no good with them either =]
That's what I was thinking that maybe I'm not getting it all out. But that probably won't fix the problem sadly D:
Rosemary tea Stick half a handful of rosemary in water and boil it up, let it simmer for 15 mins, leave to cool and drain. Stick it in a little spray bottle or pour it over your head. Got rid of mine the next day I always keep some spare just incase ^^
i have the same prob you can do a acv wash which helped me a little and try to put the washes further and further apart every time you wash
i had similar problems with bronners (even very very diluted). it really doesnt work for many people. ive since tried all kinds of soap and shampoo as well as baking soda. the only thing that makes my scalp happy (no itchies, no grease, no dandruff cept for in the wintertime) is using nothing. i just get my hair wet, massage my scalp a lot (which feels great) and rinse several times with hot water. it feels plenty clean after, cleaner than if id used soap and stays that way for at least a week and a half. i can go two weeks before it itches or looks greasy. then i usually stretch it a week longer... lol i think everything leaves some residue and thats what was bothering my scalp.
I use head and shoulders dandruff shampoo and mine still dread. my head has always been a dandruff nest. the shampoo helps keep it at bay.
Put some Tea Tree oil (a natural anti-fungal product) in a bottle with some water and give it a good shake, rinse your scalp and dreads off in it and it should cure your itches and get rid of your scalp problem, as for the dandruff flakes already in your dreads, I don't know how to get that out. Good luck!
i can confidently say this, dandruff is not fungus, what happens when you have an itch and scratch it? you see dead skin fall off. basically your body somehow miraculously realizes that its time for skin to come off and sends signals to your brain to do so by scratching, hair produces natural oils. the reason your head itches is because of the dead skin and your brain telling you to get rid of it. for the "un-dreaded" they have the luxury of combs which stimulate "scratch" the scalp. since we dont get that unnatural stimulation your scalp freaks out and produces more oil which mixes with the dead skin. but no fungus, the only way you can get fungus would be put wax in and dont dry your hair. or some fungus fairy... thanks to bill nye for that information
which dr b are u usiung? some can add to dandruff others help i use the teatree and add rosemary it helps vbut in a eeek its back i alternate every other week i use the deep ckleanse again with teatree and rosemary added and its mosth better once yiour dreads are mature some light conditioning can help too and to clarify there can be fungus conditions that cause a dandruff like scalp prob, and not all itchy flaky probs atre true dandruff but psorisais or cradle cap instesd the herbs for your head threasds got great info tho
dr b herb guide eucolyptus and pepermint can give u a cool tingling sensation smell good opern your sinuses and stimulate circulation but can be very druying to the scalp teatree can treat dandruff, or if overused can dry scalp roseanery added helps alot other scents are more aromatic i think but im no herbalist almond can be relaxing and lavender soothing and calming but i think teatree givesd the most benifitr (and keeps away lice too)
