The paper they use to make their products has little or no recycled paper... in other words, they just tear down trees to make their stuff, and not get it from recycling companies

    yay :D

all my dad gets is cottonelle. I told him about how they dont use any recycled products, and I say, 'well, then why are you still going to keep on buying them?' he goes 'I'm a consumer, I'm a consumer.'
    God I can't stand him.

IMO toilette paper that is made from recycled paper is coarse and scratchy so I don't use it. It sucks just like that cheapo half ply crap they put in public washrooms. All paper products contain some newly made paper (from trees) anyways. You can't make quality paper out of 100% recycled paper because the fibers break down and get coarser. Usually it is max 25% recycled.

A gentleman in his 80’s told me a little story about a conversation he had on this subject last week. His reply…“Save a tree, wipe you ass with a squirrel.”
I don’t walk on his lawn anymore.

The paper companies get tax breaks if they use recycled fiber and it cuts costs. Use too much recycled material and wax paper would be more comfortable.
    Do they use NEW wax?

here is what i love, you guys protest yet you know nothing about the subject. Recycling paper pollutes FAR more than throwing it away, Between the fossil fuels created for the pick up and processing, the large amounts of chemicals used to break down the paper and bleach it it works out to be about twice as polluting and it creates TOXIC WASTE, yes you heard me right, the chemical sludge left over after the process has to be treated the same as pesticides and nuclear waste. Also, almost all of the timber we use for paper is from tree farms. We also have more trees now than we have had since american settlers came to america. Recycling paper has continued for one reason and one reason only, it creates government jobs.

Also, Plastic is also inefficient, but not as bad. On the bright side recycling metal is good, it is far more efficient than mining more. I know you won't belive anything i have said, and that is fine, but do your self a favor and look into it yourself, the show PENN AND TELLER'S BULLSHIT has a good episode that lays out a very good case. And before anyone tries to talk about landfills, we are not running out of space, not even close, we rotate the landfills. When an area is full, they put dirt over it, then when the whole landfill is full they put lots and lots of dirt on top and then grow crops on it. Landfills are far more "renewable" ironically.
