The governments are not stupid. They realize that if marijuana was legal, that everyone would be smoking it, and then all of their personal beliefs and conceptualizations would begin to fall away, and the governments realize they would no longer be able to control the ignorance majority, since they have awoken from their ignorance. This is why marijuana is illegal. The corporate and elite are afraid of people who think for themselves. So that is all you have to do, if you want to stand for freedom. Challenge everything, all of your own beliefs, and truly think for yourself, independently, from everything and opinions and judgement.

I beleive it actually started with the timber industry. I hate to even post on this because I can't get all the facts straight in my head @ 5am, but that was the original cause of the legislation ( in the U.S) anyway. That cat that controlled larger timber didn't want hemp cutting into profits. We all know how money is more important in the U.S. than the enviroment and civil libirties anyway right? That's defiantly sacrcasm, but anywho, of course the propaganda started, to help the movenment.Like most things in this great nation, there's a smoke screen. Anyway, once the U.S. gets what they want at home, they preasure the rest of the world to follow suite. It's pretty fucking sick really.

They'd just invented new machines that made havesting hemp fiber less laborious, and would have allowed it to compete with Timber for paper and Cotton for clothes. Besides that, the guy you speak of owned at least one major news paper and had just bought a lot of land full of trees, for paper, then the hemp people come along with their competition and he couldn't take it. He started printing all kinds of bullshit about marijuana (to get the hemp plant made illegal) Then there's the racist part of it, with blacks and mexicans smoking it and the white elite hating and fearing them. I have no facts to support it, but I bet the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Pharmaceutical Industries had a hand it it as well. By the way, everyone should read Henry D Thoreau's essay "Civil Disobedience," it should be required reading for any liberal minded person.
The majority of the federal goverment, is NOT corrupt. Oh sure, they do have corrupt tendices but everything does we are not perfect. And well only a few Bush supporters have bashed my opinions on the elections, may more Kerry supporters have. And my opinion is that neither should be in office. Vote Nader...lol And I've pretty much noticed, there isn't much that seperate Democrats from Republicans...
yes it wasnt any one single industry that helped to make cannabis illegal. cotton, paper, tobacco, and several others band togeather to prevent this miricle plant that is easily grown quite renewable, and verry durable and versatile. meets or excedes the standards for so many industrys that it could only be defined as a miracle plant. anyways its to cheep and easy to manufacture yourself thus it was made illegal with all sorts of bs and propaganda. now its ben illegal for so long and all the bs has become a major social stigma this is what slows its legalisation that and most of the people who beleive in it just stand around and say "yea this will be legal some day" rather than standing behind it and helping it become legal in any way other than hiding out and contiuing its use.

Too bad most things do that. My ADHD meds can be worst then smoking pot to someone without ADHD. Tobacco is worse then smoking pot, some people say it isn't but it has been proven worse since it can cause some things pot can't, and drinking is far worse. Tobacco also has no known health vlaue, except helping with stress... Drinking has no health value. Well, okay it can be used as a knock-out thingy. But other then that, it fucks up all your motor skills and it fucks up your liver. Smoking pot will only fuck up your lungs. Okay, yes there have been studies that if you smoke enough it can fuck up your brain and memory and such. But that's like 4 blunts a day. Pot has very many medical values. It can help with many eye problems, it can help restore hunger in AIDS patients and restore hunger in people who take ADHD meds (mainly the bigger name: ADDerall, Concerta, Ritlain...) it helps with people who had treapy for cancer, it helps with your lungs too. And it hasn't even been linked to lung cancer, the major killer for Tobacco smokers, since the generation who started using it hasn't had enough time to devolpe it yet. Wait some years, and I bet it will be linked to lung cancer but on a smaller scale then Tobacco. Pot is one of nature's herbs. It isn't a drug, it's an herb. If pot's a drug then so is mint and other herbs like that. (Sages...Aloes...you get it)
