how safe is it to boil poppies in large amounts to extract opium? wouldnt all the steam overdose you? would you have to do it outside?
most likely you'd end up just destroying the batch unless you have a way of regulating the temperature. Grated, the fumers at a point would be........most intoxicating.........but its a window which probably wouldnt be open long enough to kill yourself. Also, what color plants are you using.
I thought, (im not an expert on opium) well people make tea out of dried pods all the time, im not sure about the other 30 something alkaloids in opium but codeine and morphine and thebain are all water soluble especially M and C, they won't stay in the water vaopr when you are boiling it, they will stay in the main water. cause like you can do an extraction on pills containing codeine or any other opiate and you can heat the water to a certain point and the water will evap and the opiate will be left so i don't think that boiling it will send alkaloids into the air in the water vapor.but im not an expert Ellis could probably answer this one.
well codeine and morphine breakdown at high tempratures best not to boil them heat somewhat and let it evaporate is fine but if you boil it you will destroy most of what your after.
