So, a rather gullible friend of mine told me that PCP is manufacturable from drug store OTC products. He claims that this is why PCP is so available, and so cheap. He started to explain to me the process, but I was laughing the whole time. This particular friend actually knows a lot about pharmacology, but for every true fact hes got, there a bullshit one accompanying it. So, I guess Im just wondering if there's any truth to what he said. I figured if it was true, i would have heard about it on teh internets, especially erowid. The only thing I remember he said is cinnamon.

    No. He's an idiot.

This is about as good as "You can make meth with what's under your sink"

real PCP is a hard-to-find chemical used in veternary applications. lots of time people call it "embalming fluid" for some reason, some people actually think its formaldehyde. (that's actually embalming fluid) and so they dip their cigarettes in formaldehyde and smoke them and get high. formaldehyde is an extremely dangerous carcenogen. it causes cancer. dont smoke it, touch it, drink it, smell it.

and stay away from PCP too.

So true. Such a horrible misconception. Both 'embalming fluid' and 'formaldehyde' are common slang names for PCP. I don't know why, either... but it needs to stop so this association will die. From erowid:

    http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/pcp/pcp_info6.shtml

I dont think there is any connection with cinnamon and PCP... but I'm not all that familiar with the synthesis of PCP.

My drug stores sell cinnamon. None of my drug stores are strictly drug stores. They all have drugs, food, magazines. I thought everyones drug stores were like that?

I've only heard of it being sold per dipper. Like $5 for one.

no clue about that, i dont know much about PCP.

DXM is an OTC drug classed as a dissociative drug, similar in nature to PCP, but still very different (others in this group include nitrous oxide and ketamine)

there are a number of DXM extraction procedures to get a purer product than cough medicine. perhaps he is somehow convinced that this will produce PCP?

also, pseudoephedrine, an OTC nasal decongestant, may be used as a precursor for methamphetamine.

but thats not even close to PCP.

i'm at a loss. your friend is incorrect, i'm pretty certain.
