I remember in the 1990's Surge was known as one of the most caffeinated sodas of the time.
The taste was lime-y with a harsh taste of something else that I can't quite put my finger on, like Mountain Dew.
Vault soda tastes similar to Surge, but the color is a bit different.

It would be cool if they started making Surge again with the original formula and logo. :D

i remember it all to well.
to me it just tasted way nasty!
i know people like you who liked it. i almost never drink and/or eat sweets for snacks; when i snack i go for salty things.
    different strokes for different folks!

I remember that shit. They brought it to my intermediate school and gave everyone a free sample, 2 weeks later it was in the vending machines.... About a month later they pulled it out. Too many kids bouncing off the freakin walls. What dumbass thought it was a good idea to give that shit to 12 year olds???

Caffeine was a dirty word in the 80s in the U.S. market. 7-up started bragging that it never had caffeine and never would. The decaf coffee craze was in full swing. The breakfast cereal company Post came up with Postum, a non-caffeine hot beverage, as an alternative to coffee.

I remember it from when I was in middle school. They had their own machine that had nothing but Surge. The only thing that sucked was they had a grade system: you had to make certain grades to use the drink machines, even after school. I think it was either straight A's or A's and B's to have the privlege to use them. The gym coach would hide near the drink machines, and if he caught you, you automatically got a week of detention and a call to your parents saying you were caught breaking the rules. We risked it to get that sweet, sweet Surge. I did two weeks detention and was grounded for a month for it. They did away with those rules when No Child Left Behind came in.

school funding was low at that time as it is once again. the schools where more than willing to making extra cash so they threw one of the things they knew the youth would purchase. Congratulations you may have payed for your own education in one way or another.

Haha I remember they brought that shit to my school too. I got like 10 of them for free. Never cared for the taste, but then again I don't really drink any soda.

I loved this drink. I was pretty young when it came out and I can't believe that my parents didn't have a problem with me drinking it. I guess they weren't aware of the amount of caffeine etc in the drink. I definitely wish they would bring it back, gave me great energy.
