I keep having these weird dreams every so often where I'm in another dimension, and I'm absolutely terrified. Usually the environment is something normal like my house or say my current workplace, but everything will have these little quirks about them that make them absolutely TERRIFYING (like an elevator, for example, will go at really intense speeds and shake me up). Everytime I have a dream like this, I become lucid about halfway through and start controlling them for a second, but that usually freaks me out even more so I just sit back, understand it's a dream and continue to just stand there jaw-dropped in horror at the scenario. Another weird part about these dreams is that even though I'm lucid, I don't feel the urge to wake up like in most lucid dreams. In these particular dreams I feel like a detective or something, because I'm really fixated on finding out why everything is wrong and how I can make it normal again. As far as actual events go, there's no real theme except for the fact that objects and events all have really bizarre quirks, like file cabinets will have faces and talk, or methods of transportation (which I try to use in order to escape the dream, and fail) go at really intense speeds. What the fuck am I supposed to make of this?
It sounds like you have the ability to dream travel. I don't know much about the phenomenon, but from what you are describing -- the emphasis on travel, the scudding speeds, the normal settings and your own "detective work" to make some defect in the system whole -- it seems to fit your experience. These people say they travel and "help" other people when they dream. Be prepared: the phenomenon begins to dominate their dreaming experience, rather than having true subjective dreams of their own. To help you curb your fears, let's pretend. Say you're an alien whose mission is to help mankind. The inside of your spaceship is not the Hollywood gadgets and buttons, no. The inside looks like the settings you are most familiar and at ease with, and the "controls" are easy too; all you have to do is communicate (talk to the file cabinet, for example) and your commands or messages are received without noise. Superior to those combustible contraptions of the humans, you travel at the speed of thought, and you are led by thought and advance by thought. This is the detective work you must complete, and the aspect of humanity you are helping/influencing. Let me know more about your personal development within the phenomenon. Hope that helps.
That's really interesting, I'll have to look that up. It's so weird how I have the option to leave my usually meaningless dream and enter this strange dimension. I always see myself hesitating, but climbing onto the elevator and then hanging on for dear life... since I know (in my dream) that i've had past dreams like this one and I absolutely hate the elevator ride. Somehow I always want to do it anyway, like it's gonna benefit me later.
