There is this book by a man named Robert Roskind called "Memoirs of an ex hippie". It is a book talking about his travels of hitch hiking across the west coast, getting drafted and dropping acid with his drill sergant, living in college communes of Oregon, participating in hip festivals, and etc... It is probably one of my favorite hip book because it is like traveling with him on his journeys of meeting new people and seeing new places. It captures the memories of the 'typical' 60s freak. Well if you are interested in this book check out this link. http://www.amazon.com/Memoirs-Ex-Hi...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218069631&sr=8-1 This is my favorite of the many other books published by Robert Roskind, his other books are mostly about finding his religion through traveling and meeting and understanding different philosophies of groups such as the Mayans and the rastas.
Chech out "THE MAN WHO TURNED ON THE WORLD" Off top of head don't remember who wrote it.I read many years ago
Didn´t read a book, but maybe he´s same in the deep but through the life met different influences. I knew one trucker, who considered himself (as a young guy) like "hippie" and then through the fighting with his problems discovered his punk soul ) But he´s still good guy!
Maybe I´m not that helpful with particular title, but check this link: http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/forumdisplay.php?f=324
If what you say is true, then there were no "real Hippies". Don't you see who is running the country today? With few exceptions, everybody from the Hippie era are all ex-Hippies!
true hippies can become ex hippies. all the real ones in the 60's became yuppies in the 80s. it happens, man.
