get some natural soap (i use dr. bronners) you can use the liquid or the bar. just kinda massage it on your scalp and squeeze it in the dreads and give it a really good rinse. make sure all the soap is out. maybe rinse twice. i wrap mine a in a towel for a few minutes and let it air dry after that.

Yeh I find when I do palm-roll, doing it while my dreads are still damp has the best results, plus it helps to squeeze out more water.

i think you are overthinking it.

    just wash. then dry.

I palm rolled my new dreads whilst damp for the first week or so after backcombing them in thinking that it would help tighten them and get them going a bit. I think the friction does help them to come together at the very beginning, but it was only after I decided to stop palm rolling that the locking process (for my hair at least) really took off. I have very fine, straight hair that loops and coils as the hair tangles and knots itself, and i was becoming increasingly aware that every time I palm-rolled them smooth it was setting the process back some. So aside from seperating the roots after each wash, I just let mine be. Plus, I happen to like mis-shapen lumpy dreads, but it really is a matter of personal preference. If you want uniform, smooth dreads, palm-rolling is for you. Just don't over do it or you may palm-roll them right off your head.
