    http://www.scienceblog.com/cms/marijuana-use-linked-increased-risk-testicular-cancer-18554.html

After reading this (on AOL), I instantly went to the comments and here i observed that there were tons of old farts who had been smoking for decades without testicular cancer, and a few people who had testicular cancer who commented and said they didn't smoke weed. this didn't prove much so i had to investigate further.

upon reviewing the study again, i noticed that the sample size of the ones with the cancer was only 369, and everyone they used was from Seattle.

I looked into the actual incidence of testicular cancer and found that each man's risk for testicular cancer is 0.4 percent. the study says marijuana increases the risk by 70 percent meaning the risk now becomes 0.68 percent. a whopping 0.28 percent higher. also testicular cancer is associated with a sedentary lifestyle, so its possible that marijuana would cause an increase in this lifestyle, and in turn the cancer.

There are 25 - 50 million regular pot smokers in the US, yet only 8,000 cases of testicular cancer yearly (including all forms of this cancer, not just the type discussed). the numbers just don't suggest anything worth worrying about.

now, this specific testicular cancer accounts for 40 percent of all testicular cancer cases,so that means 3200 (of the 8,000) get this kind yearly. if we take the chance men are supposed to have any testicular cancer of .4 percent and multiply that by 40 percent then its a 0.12 percent risk of getting that specific kind and according to the study that risk would increase by 70 percent meaning regular marijuana use would lead to a 0.194 percent chance of getting the cancer. A whopping .084 percent increase!

also, this study was done from 1999 - 2006. why did they wait 3 years to publish this? Especially since it was so soon after the whole Micheal Phelps ordeal and DEA raids it really makes me suspicious.

i find it disgusting how this information has been presented as if its significant at all. with all the power and money the tobacco, alcohol, and pharmaceutical companies have is it possible some bribes are happening?
in light of obama's promises to end the DEA raids, is this the feeble attempt of certain groups to prevent this?

    Good work.

I saw that article, and I was waiting for someone on here to say something about it.

The fact of the matter is that most cancers are not caused by carcinogens, but mostly by viral damage. Find out who Royal Rife is and you will see this is the case.

He invented a microscope which allowed him to see down to the viral level, all without killing the samples, which is what happens with an electron microscope, so he could watch viruses damage cells and watch those cells turn cancerous. He even developed a cure for cancer using the vibratory frequencies of the cells, and running a specific frequency through them, completly destroying their ability to reproduce.

Of course, this would devastate the billion dollar per year cancer industry, so he was subsequently sabotaged, and disappeared from view.

I just love the wonderful world in which we live!

They say that cigarettes increases your chances of getting cancer and they say that with marijuana the risk is even higher... Now I'm tempted to sort of believe that about cigs because of all the chemicals they put in them (not the tobacco itself) but personally, I think it's just a load of bullshit and propaganda about pot.

You only get cancer if you have cancer of the mind.

Yeah I thought it was bullshit when I read about it...thanks for putting any worries to rest.

They're always trying to find bad things about pot, only to be disproven time and time again...

Just another volley from the propaganda blunderbuss in the "war on drugs"

Funny that the inherent risks of coronary artery disease, diabetes, and cancer aren't provoking like caution from eating so much of the CRAP peddled laughingly as "food" but it is all about money isn't it? Cultivating fear in what is recognized as the demographic most likely to be using by planting the seeds of ignorance and half-truths so that another generation can wage war against a plant that could offer more than worthy competition in a number of industries- including pharmaceutical. It would be interesting to find out who funded the study.

thought it'd be more media hype. present it will enough, and maybe the sheeple will swallow it whole.

    really good thread and research.

the sample size of 360 people isn't all that bad. it's the marijuana studies that have 7 or 10 people that can be discounted for that reason as total bullshit.

however, you make other very good points. and since it was funded by the NIDA, we really can't trust shit. i suspect the reason why they waited 3 years to publish the data was because it took them that long to find a correlation between pot and something negative. either that or it took them that long to find a peer reviewed journal willing to publish it.
