I can't understand my boss or her husband...or their kids...ever. Haha. They have a heavy Spanish accent and words sound so funny until they've repeated themselves like 40 times. They probably think I'm retarded. lol

Only telemarketeres. Last time we had one call us, I had my brother walk outside and scream into the mouthpiece.

Here in the Southeastern US, we don't have an accent. Accents are for Yankees and other foreigners.

Strangely enough, one of the accents I most have trouble with is the Donegal accent of NW Ireland.

Some scottish accents are pretty tough to catch too.

Oh, and some of the regional English accents, like Geordies.

Yes. Sometimes I have a hard time with Latin American accents when they are speaking English. French, for the most part I understand, even if they are from Africa or Newfoundland.

But fast Scottish, or fast russian seems to go over my head the most.

I can catch Dutch, and German very well for some reason, their accents seems to bolster some kind of tone that might be slow to interpret, but I manage. The Finnish accent is a little tough, depending on the sex; I find the males harder to understand because they muffle the lower tones and inflections, but the women seem to capture the essence of French or English much better with the higher pitches that they are in. Must be the nasal sounds.

    Anyway. Sleep. Night all.

I don't have a problem with Asian, Baltic, or Arabic accents for some odd reason. I can hear the cusps and sharps noises pretty clearly and make out what they are saying.

It is the blurred and slurred phrases and sentences that I can't always hear because they don't sound clear to me.

I used to not have any problem understanding heavy accents of any kind, but after years of going to shows that were way too loud, my hearing kind of sucks and I can't understand people a lot of the time, especially if they have a heavy accent. Indian accents, however, I have no problem with. I love them, too.

But one of the spanish guys I work with just sucks so bad at English and I never have any idea what he is saying besides "oooooooh, julia, you work hard!" and the rest of what he says I think is literally "mmmm. ohmm. yea yea yeah mmmmm hmmm chhhh"
anyway, I just smile and laugh at him anytime he says anything to me and he laughs back at me for not being able to understand him.
