I just don't understand it. Most if not all of the reasons marijuana was made illegal, such as claims that it causes murder, crime, and insanity, have been shown to be false, and in the case of the racism reason, not justifiable for a law. We know it isn't even that bad for one's health, and the concerns there are also no reason to prohibit usage (it's only reason to label the product as dangerous). It is recognized that marijuana was criminalized for racist reasons as well as greedy business interests in the timber, fiber, and other industries. We can all look back at the 60's and 70's and see no great harm comes from widespread usage. And why do we stand for allowing our children to be branded as criminals? So what gives? Why is there no movement to throw off this repressive law? Why is there no national debate?
Think about it if it was Legal there would be alot less bad happening not only in the US but look at all the countrys having wars over marijuana, if it was Legal in the US im almost positive these wars would stop.
Legalizing it would be the greatest thing ever, world economy would soar, drug dealers disappear, grow ops would be disposed of, crime decreases and did i mention the economic boom?
Where im at, its almost like marijuana is legal, i havent heard anyone gettin hasseled for it here in awhile, the cops and community are more worried about all the hypes and crack heads, arent worrying about us harmless bud smokers, its nice
The only reason i can think of it being illegal is because in order for it to become legal, that would mean that the goverment would have to retract everything its said about marijuana. Basically, they would have to admit that they lied to us. And with this administration, that wont happen any time soon...even if kerry is elected (please vote kerry). Besides, there is too much money being made with it illegal. With the fuel companies, pharmacutical companies, textiles....they all stand to lose from its legalization, so they buy off the government to keep it illegal. Another thing that bugs me about the prohibition debate (i debate prohibition alot...im actually writing a paper on it:sunglasse) is the thought that marijuana could not be taxed if it is legal. Thats bullshit. Im sure in its 25,000 uses they can find at least one to tax. Maybe not theraputic, but im sure some people wouldnt mind buying weed like we buy liquor. I mean, all people dont brew their own beer, they buy it. People dont grow theyre own tobacco, they buy it. -Sorry for the rant, i just like owning people on this topic, especially if they are die hard prohibitionists.
Still, we citizens are the ones being affected. It's our children, not some abstract government's children, who are being arrested or having their parents taken away. I don't understand why people stand for it and don't argue the law. Obviously a lot of people want to do this (smoke weed), so we need to ask ourselves why we want it prohibited. By the way, I hear you on the tax thing. Either way though, too fucking bad if they can't tax it; it's a bad law that needs to be discussed and rethought. We the people need to demand it.
That and their 'War on Drugs' would lose alot of its power, which means Less money for the feds busting smokers, and more importantly, less fear. Lets face it, we're being ruled by fear, and the evil herb is just one of the many lies to scare us into begging big brother to protect us.
i wish george bush would debate jack herer rather then john kerry. i wish kerry would debate a pothead too but i just dont think kerry is gonna win this year. i know what yall are thinking uh oh another spark at democrats but tis not cuz i wouldnt vote either side this year. kerry has hada better run at it then Gore did but i still in GW has it this year. maybe the dems can hit up the white house next time when GW is out and a new face is in the reps side. if you think about it if kerry runs again in 2008 he prolly would win. i think the winner for both will be the more familiar face. BUsh this time and kerry next. ok im high and off topic lol legality...ummm...would kick aasss there is no such thing as an honest politian therefore the govt are a bunch of lying fucks who dont really give a damn about individual rights. the president and others treat the US as a whole.
