Greatest Song Ever!!! Sweet Cherry Wine Tommy James and The Shondells C'mon everyone we got to get together, now. Oh, yeah, love's the only thing that matters anyhow. And the beauty of life can only survive if we love one another. Oh, yeah, yesterday my friends were marching out to war. Oh, yeah, listen, now, you hear them marching any more? No, we ain't gonna fight. Only God has the right to decide who's to live and die. He gave us sweet cherry wine, so very fine. Drink it right down, pass it all around; So stimulating, so intoxicating; Sweet cherry wine. And everybody's gonna feel so fine drinking sweet cherry wine Yes, they will. Watch the mountain turn to dust and blow away Oh, no, you know there's got to be a better way And the old masquerade is a no soul parade Marchin' through the ruins of time. To save us, he gave us sweet cherry wine, so very fine. Drink it right down, pass it all around; So stimulating, so intoxicating; Sweet cherry wine. Everybody's gonna feel so fine drinking sweet cherry wine. Oh, sweet cherry wine, so very fine Drink it right down, pass it all around; So stimulating, so intoxicating; Sweet cherry wine. C'mon drink it with your brother, trust in one another, Yeah, yeah, we need each other. Sweet cherry wine. Drink it right down, pass it all around People don't you know the cup is running over?
revolution by the beatles is great. blitzkreig bop was a turning point in rock n roll, so it deserves a mention, but down by the river by neil young is probably my favorite song
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who loves over rated, overplayed songs that are more like ballads because they're so long. Free Bird and Stairway to Heaven... But only on certain days. I give up on this question.
it would have to be Chuck Berry - Jonny B Goode. this is the greatest ROCK N ROLL song of all time not rock/pop/metal.
If you're just talking real rock n' roll, I'd have to say: Rock around the clock by Bill Haley and the Comets It had kids tearing the seats out of theaters just so they could dance and that was in the 50’s.
Anyone who says 'Stairway to Heaven' will receive a devastatingly withering look from yours truly. I'd say 'Rock Around The Clock' as well, if we're talking about good ol' fashioned Rock 'n' Roll, but ever since watching all of 'The Young Ones' episodes, I just can't help associating with Neil's gallows which were set to play it when he hung himself. Good times...
Don't remember if I said this before, but for me it's Lucille by Little Richard....that's if we're talkin' original 50s tunes of course! http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=nfNAWt0TIqQ
Haha, I was about to say Stairway To Heaven then I scrolled up and saw this post. Although, it's impossible to pick just one anyway.
Any band, 5 minutes before the show, "Hey, let's start the set with this song." They may never have played this song together, but they all know it, it fits with the rest of their set and its name is JOHNNY B. GOODE The greatest rock song ever. Chuck Berry, Elvis, the Grateful Dead, Cheap Trick, Jimi Hendrix, Judas Priest, Peter Tosh...everyone has played it. It brings the crowd to its feet, gets them rock'n'. The question is "greatest rock n' roll song", not "greatest song by a rock band". As a song, Johnny B Goode spans all of rock styles and all of rock's artists. "Stairway" is a great song by Led Zepplin. "Sugar Magnolia" is a great song, by the Grateful Dead. Johnny B. Goode is a great song, by anyone, by everyone. Including the band across the street (they started practicing last week when the drummer's mom said OK). Any band, any stage, any venue, any time, it gets them off their butts and into the aisles. Its the greatest rock song ever. (Hell, even Pat Boone and Donny Ozman have played it. It must be a good song to survive that treatment.)
Johnny be good is amazing trucking fool in the rain have a cigar like a rolliong stone sympathy for the devil there are so many great ones its so hard to choose, in the end i think it comes down to personal preferance
