i love the stone roses' self-titled album, and 'screamadelica' is one of the best albums of the nineties.

The Charlatans to a lesser extent aswell had some good stuff out as well during the Madchester era.

Yeah The Smiths are good too, as are Joy Division or New Order as they were called after Curtis killed himself and they got a new singer.

Hey, I'm just happy to see I'm not the only person in the world who thinks The Stone Roses, Primal Scream and the Charlatans are great bands. I still remember the first time I heard "I Want to Be Adored" and "Elephant Stone" by the Stone Roses. It blew me away.
And hardly a week goes by when I don't listen to Screamadelica, which is likely my favorite album of all time.

I was lucky enough to see Primal Scream live (supported by The Orb) shortly after Screamadelica was released and they were amazing. The Roses, The Mondays, The Charlatans, The Inspiral Carpets and a whole lotta rave and acid house was the soundtrack to my youth. Love 'em all but the Charlatans were my favourite band out of the lot of them in the long term probably because they stayed the distance and released a load of memorable albums and could put on a very good show live. Primal Scream's back catalogue is erratic to say the least. Screamadelica is easily my favourite of theirs though, I'd agree with Skelter that it's a top 90's album, great memories (well what I can remember anyway ;) )

Good stuff. I have to agree with you about Primal Scream. I have a lot of their more recent albums and they seem to be a little up and down. Screamadelica was definitely their crowning achievement. I only wish I could have seen them right after they released that album. It's a perfect mix of hippie and rave cultures. You're really lucky.
As for the Charlatans, I have some great memories of listening to Some Friendly and Between 10th and 11th and feeling "great." They put the wah-wah pedal to great use on both. The guitar sound alternately makes you want to dance and stare into space.
    Yes, good memories.

Primal Scream are far better than the Charlatans, just listen to the other albums especially Vanish Point which is pure class and better than Screamadelica in my opinion.

Vanishing Point was a great album, second place to Screamadelica out of Primal Scream's albums for me, too many good-times tied up with when Screamadelica came out for me for it not to be my favourite heh.

I'd say that Screamadelica is better than anything The Charlatans ever produced but The Charlatans produced a much more consistent back catalogue, I find Primal Scream's quite patchy on the whole, some great albums and some duffers for me
