Gah, this issue kills me so much, I can't even get my words together to write a coherant response...however, I am so glad that other people feel the same way I feel about some of these INSANE things that are made for kids. Barbie, Bratz dolls, what is the world going to be like in 100 years? Probably gone.

Boy's clothing- baggy, loose fitting, big (generally teen style)

Girl's clothing- short, tight, "ass words"

    That sums it up nicely.

You've got a point here. I've been thinking the same thing for a couple of years ever since I was at an arcade where they have a horse-riding race simulator game and there were two young girls aged about 3 and 5 in knee-high boots, short skirts and vest tops playing or gyrating on these horses. All I could think is "and you wonder why we have paedophiles in this country?!" This does not mean that I condone paedophilia though, but I believe that in many cases it is an illness rather than rotten deeds done by evil people.

I do think that children, especially young girls, are being made to dress in an adult manner from too young an age - little bikinis and miniskirts and revealing tops. It's wrong and parents should know better and allow their child to stay a child for as long as possible.

a while ago i was in a change room trying on some jeans, when i heard from the room next to mine, "don't you love it?? it's SOO SEXY!"

it turned out to be some 8-9 year old girl... i just don't understand what would enable a kid that age to see something as truly sexy.

i say you should only dress in a sexy way once you fully understand what sexy is. meaning, you need the maturity and development of a young adult with dignity.

kids are getting carried away with something they don't understand

The evolution of the "doll". Is this seriously what our world has come to.

I don't see the big deal. Technology allows us to have detailed fashion dolls and freewill allows the parents to buy or NOT buy the dolls for their kids.

Oi.. You don't even know how strongly I feel about this subject. Sex sells has really gone too far! Younger and younger age groups are being targeted and yes, basically we do have a very young age group walking around dressed in 'slutty' clothing.

Now, imagine how I, as a nearly 16 year old girl feels about this. I'll tell you one thing, it's hard to have a valid discussion about this with a classmate, seeing as they tend to fit with the classification.

I agree. It's annoying when you try and have a discussion with people when they all agree with the topic you are trying to argue and will not see another point of view.

I agree, girls should not be dressing this way. I remember seeing a little girl about three or so wearing a tank top, a jean mini skirt and high heeled boots. I shit you not folks, this little girl looked like a hooker. Plus the little girl could hardly walk in the boots. I'll admit it but I used to dress a bit skanky when I was younger. I had really slow self esteem and didn't feel pretty so I dressed skanky. But thankfully I grew up and relised that you don't have to show skin to be pretty. Now I wear bohemian/hippie clothes or go for a 60's mod look.

I'm a fifteen year old girl myself, and in my school, it's totally hilarious. Every girl dresses in ridiculous clothing. Even the girls who have "alternative" styles walk around in skin-tight jeans and tank tops.

I'm glad I have the brain power to wear clothes that fit me, no matter what people might say.

The other day I saw this girl, maybe 14? wearing this tank top thing with this glitter sequin outline stuff over where she was trying to grow booblets, looked like she was wearing a bra outside her shirt. If my daughter even thinks about leaving the house wearing something like that when she's that age, she's grounded for a week. Don't care what the other girls are wearing, don't care if she has money to buy her own clothes, It ain't gonna happen!

    And right you are!
seriously, when I was in my senior year at high school, I saw girls from the first grade (here in holland middle school and high school is one school) from about 12 to 14 of age, and they wore crap loads of make up and really ridiculously short skirts :S
And yes even younger girls... They sell thongs for 9 year olds nowadays, and thats very very worrying.
If I had a daughter I would never let her wear those things. One side is a body is nothing to be ashamed of, and thats why I think being naked is okay for kids, at a beach for example you see em all the time when they're between 1 and 6 years old, but there is a BIG difference between natural nakedness and revealing clothing that makes little children look like teen hookers.
There is a difference between freedom of a natural state and pronographic like clothes.

Who's buying the clothes? Certainly a three year old isn't buying her own clothes. Just because the slutty stuff is out there it doesn't mean it has to be bought. I have 2 girls, 6 and 9 and they look like a 6 year old and a 9 year old, not hookers. I don't find it hard to buy regular children's clothing at all.
