http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/3958241.stm I found this article to be rather ridiculous, but all the same serious. Every popular depiction of Jesus is as some kind of Anglo-Saxon, which is just not possible. Jesus was most likely as brown as the people who currently live in Palestine. So I'm just tossing this topic out there... not like the colour of the man would in some way take away from his message. Simply a potential discussion...
He's a towel head...he reincarnated and was about to save us all when things started getting bombed over there. Now bush has taken his place as the anti christ.... or so I've been told.
hi there i believe if i may say as above.......... with all the colours of the rainbow, jesus was human...so colour has no meaning to him............ as we see on tv and other places the blue eyed sort of curly blondy hair of jesus was false......but it was allowed to be viewed this way for too long... i suppose if i think in the country and other influences ie mother father etc.. he may have had dark curly hair maybe olive skin stronge forehead..... and brown eyes even hazel ...but who knows thank you loven peace to all from saff
Well, there are some very dark black African Jews, pale white European Jews, and every shade in between, hmmmm, Jews can be any color, so what is the answer, JDFU?
I've actually often wondered what color Jesus was too. Not that it matters, the inside is what counts. But it'd be interesting to know!
HEY BLACKGUARDXIII!!!***!!! Change your image link- it's set to local drive on your computer. "file : ///C:/My%20Documents/My%20Pictures/for%20msnsites/mtns/mecloud.jpg" in the img tag thingies (you can see it when you view sight, but we can't see it when we view forum). My theory is that Jesus was yellow. I mean, the guy could turn water to wine. In addition, he could probably turn road dust into coke, and olive oil into acid. Makes for a pretty charismatic leader to follow around (if you ask me). Too bad God didn't decide to give anyone else these powers (that I know of). <up,up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b,a, start>
Who cares? Does color matter? People make their gods and idols in their own image. There's a black jesus, a white one, and everythign in between. It's just an image. If the Angloids want a white one, and the Africans want a black one, good for them. I'm not even a Christian and I know it's the message that counts. Race is one of the most superficial and meaningless things there is about a man, let us all move beyond it and start our journey into truth.
Jesus was born Ur (not Bethleham. He traveled there later). Ur is in what I believe is present day Iraq. So, Jesus was the same color as the people that Bu$h the good Christian is bombing the hell out of.
What color was jesus...hmmm...let me go look at a mirror...hahahahahahahaha...jk...jesus was a jew...not a european jew, possibly an african jew, most likely a middle eastern jew. Lets leave this argument up to the racial supremecy groups to argue which color he is, his shade simply doesnt change the fact that he wasnt the son of god, now thats a thread to raise an argument, hahahahaha...im reading les miserables right now, so let me leave u with a quote; "when one puts on the cowl or veil he is trading suicide for eternity. Chew on that for a while...
As for hair length. Paul's mother was a Jew but his father was a Roman. Paul's letters were primarily written to people that lived in the Roman dominated culture. The Roman hair style was short hair and clean shaven face for the men. Most of what Paul said was inspired by God but some of his writtings were just his opinion.Yes Jesus lived in Nazereth but he was raised a Nazerite like Samson or John the Baptist. The Nazerites were forbidden to shave or cut their hair. In Christs time there was little intermarriage between Jews and Gentiles. There fore the apperance of the Jews(ie skin color, hair color etc) would be a bit more homogenous than what it is today. I'm guessing that he had curly dark hair and an olive complection. He was a carpenter so he was probably pretty muscular in build. We do know one thing. It is very likely that Simon of Cyrene was black. Cyrene was populated by black folks during the time of Christ. The only man that stood up for Jesus during the walk to Calvary was a black man. However Paul did say."In Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female. In Christ we all are one." God made us all equal. "Red and yellow, black and white all are precious in God's sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world."---Taken from the kids song Jesus loves the Little children. I'm getting a bumpersticker for my dad(a church Pastor) That says "My Boss is a Jewish Carpenter."
I also don't think it matters what color he was, it's his teachings. But he was whatever color Jim Caviezel is.
Jesus was jewish, yes jewish people have different skin colours amungst themselves but Jesus was deffinetly not a light skinned jew, not possible....HE WAS A CARPENTER, he worked outside in the hot sun for long hours. well duh!!! he wore sandals and walked around the desert!!!! as for his hair, i have no idea, i can't see it being anything other then black or brown, and i don't know enough about the culture of the time period to make any assumptions about the length. but i do know that whatever the culture did for hair, he would have to. based on the carpenter thing... I'm also assuming that he would have been pretty muscular.
he could have been african, but wooly could also mean that he just had curly hair, or that he didn't brush it that often, my hair is wooly and i'm tottaly white. (dreadlocks)
