What would the world be like if hardcore opiates were OTC?

If you could just walk into a CVS and pick up 20 80's for $20. $1 each. Would the world be a more peaceful place? Would productivity go up or down? Would crime go up or down? Would everyone be a junkie?

It's obviously extremely unrealistic and would never happen, but let's imagine it really happened. What would happen to the world?

society would probably split into three group, those who are hopelessly addicted and a waste of life, those who refuse to use, and those who are responsible in there drug use. Just like now, only different.

 

Considering an 80 runs around $13 a piece at a pharmacy with a perscription if you don't have insurance, the pharm companies are just banking on our problems I am sure they'd love to put them OTC. I Wish!!! lol

its like I have one room just for opiates, just a bed, tv, stereo, and my stash and hookah, (I think its called my bedroom?)
anyways my house is always alive and jumping but when you hop in there its just as if time has stopped weird I know

 

there would certainly be a ton of junkies, but the downside of being a junkie wouldn't be that bad. it wouldn't be expensive, you wouldn't have to commit crimes or do anything illegal, you'd never have to go through withdrawal, you wouldn't need to lie or steal, etc.

you'd be dependent on a drug but would never really experience any negative effects

 

just like the people who need their morning cup of coffee, but its a morning shot of morphine

 

In 1991 my mother in law worked at an Orthopedic clinic. and you could get vics without a script. She use to bring me a box of 500 single wrap 5/500 vics to me, I kept them in my drawer in the bathroom.. She use to bring me a box every other month for like a year. then all of a sudden you needed a script from the doctor, and that stash went away
but it sure was nice to have.
she got them from drug reps. that came to the office for the doc to give to patients. Lol I got a box one month and she got a box the next month. she didn't take them that much so I would just go over there and tell her my back hurt and ate her stash to LOL..
it was funny cause she always told me not to drink on them, then I would grab 6 from her and she gave me a beer to wash them down. Dam I love my mother in law

 

it'd be like it is in england most likely. i mean, they prescribe pharmaceutical heroin to junkies, so i've read and heard.
