Ok I havent been able to find any shampoo thats residue free with it in it but i ahve been able to find pure extract. My question is should i put it in the shampoo i use now or should i make a water and oil mix and use that before or after? Also i have been lazy with washing my hair will it dry out and dread faster if im washing it every other day i ahve realy realy realy strait hair taht isnt dreaing well and its been goign on since november and im starting to get frustrated i just dont know what to do to make it look better there are also alot of flat dreads which i absolutly do not want at all but i seem to be able to reshape them fairly well when its wet but id like for them to be reasonably rounded. I'v been back combing the first 3 months but ahvent done it in at least a month or more i jsut feel realy stuck with rediculous looking hair atm and im not sure what to do next. Also i can post some pics if that helps after work.
dont re-backcomb over and over and over, it wont do any good. backcomb to start them off and then leave it my hair also looks ridiculous (go look at my thread) but i love it! im embracing the crazy hair when i wash mine, i mix bicarb (baking soda), tea tree oil and sea salt with water and dump it on.. i personally dont see the fuss about residue free this that n the other, if it cleans yer hair then its all good, but you dont want conditioning things. when i was undreaded, i used my dads tea tree shampoo which REALLY knotted my hair up, and they didnt come out unless i attacked them with a brush. also.. a lot of mine are flat. id like them to be rounded, but i expect itll come with time. i dont bother palm rolling mine to round them, cause im only ganna sleep on them and flatten them again anyway and yus, post piccies =]
Add a few drops of tea tree oil to your regular shampoo to treat hair problems like persistent dandruff, itchy-scalp and even prevent head-lice. Massage it in, leave it on for 5-7 minutes and rinse off... it's very good for your hair.
i just ran out of seasalt!!! damn gotta go out and freeze my nads off! oh well lol teatree oil is soooo nice on my dreads i love the stuff
the over backcombing probly made the hair look extra rediculouse, tons of dammage, individual hair shafts broken nearly through in many places so they zig zag all over your technicaly only a month in sincde u just finaly stopped rebackcombing so you will go through a crazy funky stage they are not expected to be perfectly round at this stage, u can roll em some but they absolutely shpuld be loopong like crazy becomming wild and funky they will settle down in theyre own time till then stop worrying stop complaining and love it..love the craziness because this is like a pregenant mother to be, fat as can be but glowing your crazy looking dreads should give u a sence of priide, yes you look funny (in the case of a mom to be fat as a house) but its all part of the beautiful birthing process of bringing new dreads into the world forget about how u look today and concentrate on the strong healthy happy dreads in your future so stop abusing them, let them do theyre thing, give em just a lil guodance with just a l;il rolling, if u over do it they will be really weak, so better to have strong flat dreads then round dreads u carry in your pocket im guessing u will over roll though since u went way way way overbouard with backcombing just warning u here, u already dammaged it a ton, you should start being very gentle with em leaving em aloner as much ase possible in gebneral, the less u do the morte satisfied u are..the motre u do the more disartisfied with every single haitr outta place now..lets see some pics oh and teatree just add it to whatevcer or add a few drops to a rince too much will over dry though so use just a lil
when i say i was back combing i mean i did them all ounce in one night with 2 friends then after that id work on one a night till they were good enough not to fall apart my hair is freakishly strait and that seems to be the major issue more than anything else. my hair im only worried about when i go out to an event or something my work is totaly fine with it im just worried that its been 4 months and they dnot look much different then what tehy did after the first week and they dont eem to be lock ing up only matting out. il post pics tonight i think that will help me at least know where i stand. i just feel like there realy realy loose. im totaly willing wo wait another 8 months but it just seems like im treading water. so if i start washing them like 3 times a week will that help at all right now im doing it about every 2 weeks unless i get realy sweaty or what not. btw this is an amazing site and they only one taht seems to know anything about dreads. also one last thing the only reason im concerned with if they are flat or not is when tehre finaly mature i want them to not be pancakes on my head lol im not as concerned atm btu i dont want all flat dreads if i can help it at all i wasnt sure if how ever tehy set they stay or if u can reshape them from rolling over time.
in my opinion, youve backcombed waayyy too much. chuck yer comb away and let your hair do what it wants. you dont need to make them 'really tight' or whatever. it WILL fall out, or at least get looser, before they shrink/get tighter etc. alot of my backcombing has fallen out, my hair looks a mess, my family hate it, but i love it. 4 months.. thats nothin. i dont think backcombed dreads (ie backcombed and then nothing else) dont start to look good/decent for aaages. at least 6 or 7 months later. all you have atm (and all i have atm) is backcombed hair in sections. a few of mine are matting rather than locking, but its all part of the process and all part of the fun =] 3 times a week for a wash.. its a personal choice. i was only ganna do mine once a week, but im ill and i wake up with a horrible sweat goin on durin the night, so im washing my hair twice a week because it stinks and generally feels icky =] as long as you let your hair dry properly inbetween washes you shouldnt encounter any probs such as mould developing and i also think that theyll fatten up and rounden out with time. everything happens with time. just try to chillax a bit, and get them pics up =]
