before i say this i want to assure you...i love all books passionately...saying that, I HATED THIS BOOK. Tedious and ultimately boring, what are people thinking when they label this "classic". "Old" and standing the test of time do not constitute quality. Did anyone else hate this as much as i did??? Speak up and help me destroy the myth that Dracula is a great book, its not even decent.
Never read Dracula, but one of my favorite vampire books is by John Steakley. " <img src="C:\Documents and Settings\michelle\Desktop" width="199" height="322" />
I remember reading Stoker's novel when I was 11 and alone in the house at night. Needless to say I shit myself. The way it was written like a diary in the beginning helped to create a realistic atmosphere in a story that is anything but realistic. If I read it now, I would probably be unimpressed, never mind scared. Oh! What's that? There's something lurking outside in the woods. Probably just an animal, silly me. Oh no! The lights are blinking. Damn! I hope the electricity doesn't get
Never read the book but the 'talking' book read by Richard E Grant is spinetinglingly brilliant. He brings it to life in such a way as to cause one to shit ones pants!
