I had a Peace Heart put on my ankle with a home-made tat gun. It took it two weeks to heal, and had a raised scab... I knew most of the ink was gonna come off in the scab just by the way it looked.... and it did. I had another tat done on my other ankle years ago, professionally, and the same thing happened with that one. I had to have it inked a total of three times before it held the ink and looked good. I have other tats that done just fine, so I'm wondering... Maybe my ankles just dont hold ink??? Is it the hair that grows out from shaving that pushes the ink out??? Any Ideas???
Usually its the scab that would pull the ink out. I would suggest taking better care of it. The tattoo artist I went to in Bangkok suggested I use a cream called Benpethan, which worked very well for me.
im gettin my first tattoo on monday! woohoo cant waaait!! . . hope the ink doesnt come out of mine lol
The tat shop that did the other tat on my ankle years ago asked me the same questions on how I was caring for my tat. Believe me, I took good care of my tat, and the other ankle tat too. Nothing rubbed against the tat, (or the other tat I had on my other ankle) I washed it very gently once a day with antimicrobial soap, and put aquaphor on it like a tat shop suggested. I didnt treat it/them any different than my other tats. Perhaps I can come to the weird conclusion that my ankles just dont hold ink that well.
Well, I've always been told NOT to wash my tattoo everyday because it loosens the scabs, and to use either tattoo goo or plain unscented lotion. Just because you do what the tattoo parlor says doesn't mean that they give good advice.
you didn't do it right. i've been doing tattoos on myself with homemade tools for a while and i can say for sure that when its done right it heals in about a week or less with no ink loss. are you drawing blood when you do it? this maybe mean you are going too deep. practice makes perfect, just do it over it once it heals. or scrape it of with some sand paper/
The deeper the needle goes the darker the colour is. It's possible that there wasn't enough thick skin on your ankle for the ink to really penetrate your skin. Or the artist just didn't go very deep. Some places just absorb ink better.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!! I think the prob is my ankles and the fact that I bet the needle wasnt set deep enough. My artist has a professional gun now, so I plan on having it done over, and maybe having something else added like perhaps wings on the sides of it. Thanks for all the feedback! ~Peace Out~
I think it has a lot to do with the location. My boyfriend has several tattoos without any complications, until he recently had two done lower on his leg near his ankle...the SAME thing happened to him. And he takes very, very good care of his tattoos, and has had all of his done by the same person, SO... I think it has a lot to do with the location of the tattoo and perhaps the way the blood flows to it. Touch ups should help though. Maybe if you get more done on your ankle area, try keeping it elevated as much as you can. Like when you lie down, put a pillow under it. I suggested my boyfriend do that, and it seemed to help a lot. Just my thoughts, hope it helps!!
