Does dreaded hair grow faster?

Having hair that appears longer is not the same thing as it growing faster. Dreaded hair may grow longer because it's not breaking off at the tips as typical hair does. It's still growing at the same rate. Also, dreaded hair that shrinks may begin to expand a bit. This is something that's been happening with my dreads lately - they are starting to stretch so they appear to be growing quickly. It's not *actually* growing faster.

I actually got nervous about it at first because I thought they were getting weak or something... but after asking around it appears to be normal :)

If this was directed at me, I do know that, lol. But since having dreads, though the growth rate may be no different, my hair now gets longer much faster than it used to, because the growth is not being cancelled out by hair breakage :)
