we all know that cacti can be a bit expensive unless you find it, online sources charge around 20 bucks a foot plus shipping. but with just cacti you have to contend with drinking a snotty cup of mucus, a simple extract will yeild all the magic with out the goop. for a simple extract there are a few pieces of hardware and software needed. on the hardware side -blender -stock pot -cheese cloth and strainer -turkey baster (or sep funnel, they make life much easier. you can find one at auctions for like 30 bucks, well worth it) -5 gallon glass carboy (usually found at most brew shops run about 20 clams) -pyrex baking dish -empty apple sauce jar -small fan -plastic bin (those tubberware containers) - a couple of computer fans (about 3 112mm, run about 10 bucks a piece) -dryer vent hose (10 bucks max) the bin, vent hoses and computer fans will be for a simple vent hood for those nasty fumes. that 40 bucks or so is well worth it when it comes to smell control.
for the software -cacti (you know the kind) -lye -zylene -HCL acid (muriatic acid) -distilled water expect to pay around 50 for all the chemicals needed. they can all be found at you local hardware store and pool supply store our total cost so far is around 150 bucks not including cacti. for the cacti buy live cuttings!! no powder or dry skins. these should be the first thing you buy... give them time to grow as you gather everything else. plant them and let them grow. under good conditions you will get more than a foot a year. when you harvest leave the top 10 or 12 inches and replant them. let them grow back. you will get a new supply in the next year or 2.
for the extraction. i will not give my method, a very good one can be found here already. (i use his but simply replace the citrate with HCL) but i will give a few rules of thumb i live by. lye to liquid ratio i use is 10Tablespoons lye for every gallon of cacti juice(try to get the consistency of half and half) zylene to basified liquid should be about 1part to 3parts. roll around for a good 10 mins, let rest for an hour, repeat 4 or 5 times. let rest over night. HCL in distilled water is 10 drops to every 2 cups HCL water to zylene is 1 part to 3 parts never throw out your zylene after using it. it is still good. keep using it for you next experiment. let your liquid dry completely, when there is nothing but crystals in you baking dish give it another day to be sure its dry... scrape it up with a razor blade, you should have an off white crystal. (you could do an acetone wash, but its just for looks, the dose has enough leway that you dont need them squeaky clean for accurate dosing) we are working in dose in the hundreds of mgs not in millions of a gram so its no biggie the cacti grows back and less than 200 bucks to get the materials its well worth the investment of time and a few bucks for something that is so amazing. those are the basics, all questions are welcome and encouraged.:cheers2:
it wont turn bunk, you will just get less yield. there is usually always a way to go back and fix something if you make a mistake with the extraction
about 300-400mgs depending on source, harvest, how many pulls you do. there is really alot of variables
not bad, could've figured since 1 foot equals 1 dose, but yea. i am in socal so, free cactus but y'know time + price of chems= ehhhhh... would be great to have and share with other people. most people aren't hardcore enough for cactus.
the time isnt bad, it can be done in 2 days and plus say another 2 days to dry the crystals. so it works best in larger batches say 10 feet or so at a time. that way you can get a personal supply that will last a few months. yeah im in socal and still havent had any luck finding any. ive bought a few cuttings and placed them out to grow. and a couple of pots here at home. the cacti sludge it self is pretty hardcore, i think its worth it some people dont. i think everyone is ok with pure white crystally goodness. we all know if you choose to do this you wont hog all the love, you will keep it between a few close friends. see if they would be down to throw in a few bucks to help with the cost of supplies. between 5 people 200 bucks or so comes out to 40 a piece. childs play really.
Look at this tech from another forum. It's quite interesting and doesn't use stinky toxic xylene or sodium hydroxide. SWIM tried it and it works dam good. But he did a total of 5 pulls with d-limonene, and then salted each pull 3 separate times using HCl and got yields beyond belief (1283 mg from 100 grams of dried San Pedro). The results were really clean after the acetone wash, almost white. If hydrochloric acid could be replaced with citric acid then this would be the first all natural non-toxic extraction procedure I’ve ever seen. Would citric acid work instead of hydrochloric acid?
xylene and sodium hydroxide are not watched chemicals they are basic lab reagents and solvents. they re easily obtainable and nobody will think twice if you buy them (be smart about it though people buy a couple of gallons of paint with the xylene and say you are looking to cure your own olives with the lye) a fume hood will take care of the smell, the trick is to try and work as quick as you can so the smell doesnt over power the room, always use good ventlation. the process has a few extra steps involved and a vaccum filter gets pretty pricey, the idea of this tread is to see how cheaply it can be done. i want to try this tech in due time though, need to do a bit more research.
this is not mescaline on a budget. mescaline on a budget. a pot: free 20 inch san pedro: 25$ water : free chop cactus. boil in water. drink.
The first extraction is really shit. I've tried it, and it's a pain in the ass. I can't speak for the d-limonene one. If you really wanna do this, you'd do well to learn some basic organic chemistry. If you're too lazy for that, expect to fail (at least partially) but at least look up a better tek.
Looks about the Same as DMT have you Tried extracting as a freebase, in the Xylene a second time and freezing to form crystals then there is little to no evaporation and you can save your solvents, especially with DMT you recycle it in a way that make the potency go way up. As well as limiting fumes because it forms crystals then you dump out the solvent into another container, and then let the residue evap off crystals.
Freebase mescaline is an oil. A very caustic oil at that. To do this better, you'd do an acid cook, defat with xylene, basify, extract with xylene then salt the naptha to get crystals precipitating out. It looks about the same as any acid/base extraction.
defating isnt really need, with dmt a simple recrystalization will work fine same with cactus i found defating only prolongs the process doesnt seem to help to much. i dont think its worth it personally
