Guys, have you ever used a LED light. It feels so natural in the LED light, as if its day light. I don't know if they are easily available in the market.
All the LED lights I have seen have been a waste of time TBH. Even the 3w high flux ones are good for fuck all. You also have to consider that each bulb is going to have it's own ballast, which is going to necessarily be cheap and inefficient, people selling you these magic "3w light bulbs" will probably neglect to inform you about the other 3 watts dissapated by the ballast, and it's piss poor power factor. Electronically ballasted fluorescents (not shitty CFL's) already provide (comparatively) very efficient illumination, that is flicker free and with a choice of colour temperature. If you've a mind to "go green" by splashing on some expensive bulbs, why not just spend the same or less money fitting fluorescents. Just make sure you get the more expensive "high power factor" i.e. electronically ballasted fittings rather than the cheap magnetic ones. If you want to splash the cash you can get lots of fancy features like linked dimmable fittings, instant on, occupancy sensors and light level sensors to maintain a constant level of illumination when supplemented by natural light.
the led bulbs i have for my house work good Im pleased with the light output and the watts used are much less than a comparable cfl bulb. That said I will say this...... The cfl lights tend to radiate light more. The LED bulbs are very straight focused. You have to be right under them as the light doesnt radiate out at all. The LED bulbs are good for overhead recessed lights in homes but dont expect it to radiate out light to fill a large room.
fluorescent lights are still number one for efficiency there are reports out there that say some leds are more efficient but to my knowledge none are in commercial production leds put out bugger all light for space lighting if you want to save money on powerbills and save the world you need to buy a heat pump hot water system or solar hotwater system. an awful lot of power is used just to heat plain old water.
