This is aimed towards Turkey Stuffing, but i figured someone else might be able to help. I have a PSP from a few years ago, (2 or 3 maybe), and i know it is the best portable gaming system at the moment, even though it is outsold by the DS. It has one button that has a few problems with it, it doesn't always respond. I haven't really picked it up in like a year, but i have a few games for it. Battery, memory, and everything is stock. (8mg memory i think? lol) I also have a PS3, and was trying to hook it up like i heard about, but also think there is a flaw with it's opperating system. How much money do you think i would have to spend to fix it up? Would it be better or easier to just buy a new, (white), one? I also have an ipod touch, (damn i'm spoiled, but i did work for my ipod touch), is there any comparison between the two? One last note; i also read that they are developing a touchscreen PSP to compete with newer portable systems, does anyone have any information about this? i guess i'm asking a lot of questions here, and i guess i think Turkey knows more about it than he does, but any help is appreciated.
About the botton, it might be a bad solder or something on the board. To remotely play your PS3 on it, you might have to upgrade your PSP's frimware, the only problem with that is if you upgrade past 2.00 you can't play homebrew games/applications or run direct iso files (Pirated games). If its firmware is above 2.00 anyways, try updating. If I were you, I'd just try to sell it to GameStop or on craigslist. For like 100$. Then either 1. Buy a new one (PSP Slim) or 2. Go to craigslist or gamestop and try to find one thats in good condition thats firware 2.00 or lower if you want to use your PSP to its fullest. Becuase theres custom firmwares out there ment to run on 2.00 that emulates the newer updates but still lets you play applications like Gameboy emulators, ps1 emulators, n64 emulators, and of course pirated games. Shit, I think theres even someone working on a DS emulator.
- Try taking the faceplate off and taking the button off it's contact (take it off with the back UP, because all the buttons will rest in their holes on the front faceplate) and looking at the plunger and the contact itself. - PSP has no internal memory. Only uses Memory Stick Duo. Mine's got 4GB - What do you mean there's a 'flaw'? Try plugging it in and running a network update. That'll reflash everything. Should work then. You need to plug the PSP into the PS3 system to get them to sync up. After that first time you can connect to it wirelessly though. - A new PSP (3000 series) is $200. It comes with a game (Size Matters) and a 1GB memory stick. There is no non-pack version of it yet. But they're still selling PSP-2000's so watch out. - An iPod touch/iPhone will do ANYTHING better than a PSP but play games. If you're really looking for a gaming machine and to use the multimedia shit, PSP is great. But the iPhone is much faster and more agile with everything else. Especially the freakin' internet. - A touchscreen PSP doesn't sound too farfetched.
take it to a used game store and sell it... and then buy a used one off craigslist i want a psp so fuckin bad.. the used game store sells them for $100.. but i think it just comes with the bare essentials
Woah. Thanks everyone, I think I got everything I needed! No, I mean really, you guys are awesome. Btw, I have probably spent 60$ or more on iPod touch games and apps, because I get a lot of giftcards, and there's no way I'd BUY music, haha. I <3 Ipod touch, if I got a PSP I'd have all the portable multimedia I would need, haha.
Hmmm... Pawn shop with a dumbass behind the counter here I come! Then to Craigslist to find a decent one.
