Un-even dreads. : (

Okay, I got my dreads from a really expensive salon...Thingy, it cost about $200 and she used TONS of chemicals, being naive, I thought "She's a hairstylist, she knows what she's doing."

    So, a year later, they look really good on the left side! Even and locked perfectly. However, during the five hours it took to dread my hair, she seemed to get tired as she did the right side, the result is this;

Dreadie #1: Craptastical. It looks like it's two weeks old, hasn't dreaded at all.

Dreadie #2: Perfectly dread, but it's tiny not even a centimetre in width.

Dreadie #3; Perfect dread! The problem is that it's about two-and-a-half-times the size of the second Dreadie. :(

All of the dreads afterward are only a bit un-even, and are all nice and thick.

Now, my stylist (Who I let do what she wanted to my hair because she's hot.Bad decision) says it's because I didn't put "modeling clay" (A.K.A. clay, seaweed, and salt. All natural stuff, but it's pure residue) and the last few times she's used all these nasty chemicals in my hair and now I'm afraid to go back there because she'll use her evil Succubus powers to make me do what she wants!

ANYWAYS, yeah, what should I do about the un-evenness? Perhaps go to a professional dreadlocker...Or dreadticion, or whatever, and get that side combed out with tons of conditioner and the re-done? It seems like kind of a hassle, but I can't think of anything else to do.

Unfortunately, I lost the cord that connects the digital camera to my computer, so no pics until I find it. :(

pics soon then plz. but seriously... leave your dreads alone! if there is residue, do a deep cleanse. and DON'T go back to your stylist, she has evil powers over you haha. i haven't seen what they look like but maybe you can combine the first dread and the baby dread if you put a bead on them. but really it sounds like you're overreacting... i tried to bleach the tips of my dreads and dye em purple but they wouldn't take very well so now i've got like green/brown puke color tips... and man... fuck it, it's just hair. dreads are about NEGLECT, they're not supposed to cause you mental anguish.

don't whimper or be scared... its just the way it is around here...you're going to hear about how horrible a mistake you made by useing the chemicals and paying for something that can just happen on its own... but don't worry *pats head* I am sure you're dreads are gorgeous just the way they are... and maybe we jinxed it by saying its going to get interesting...maybe it'll be plain boring and you'll just be told to love your locks and enjoy the journey. :) thats what my advice would be! well IS!

I didn't want her to use the chemicals! It's just that she was new and I didn't want to get her fired or anything! But it's okay, because when she wasn't looking I gave her a really dirty look, that'll teach 'em...

    wow
    just wow

    ok..
    hmm

    well

i can usualy think of plenty to say here but..
    just..wow

how sure are ya it was her 1st day andshed get fired?

taking the salon dread scam to new levekls with the whole flirt em into submission angle.
    lol

    ok
now..lets forget the mess she nade and akl..thats recoverable mostly
but lets concentrate on the ineveness

say thank god she made em uneven

u got manufactured dread like things..dunno what she did to u biyt they tend to drag out the dread as much as they can to get every cent they can
be happy u only got ripped for 200, others started at 700..and kept going back for the tightening at a hundred a pop..

now the unevenness is yoyr greatest hope of not looking like a salon dread victim forever.
no 2 dreads should ever be the same
    'they should be like fingerprints
the less even they are the better they blend into a natural organic look anfd feel.
if they all look exactkly alike they look like theyre probly synthetic or xtentions..

ok back to the chemicals..i dunno the best course of actuion here was there wax was there gells was it a "drewad perm" im clueless about the dread perm. but id ..well pics are really important here
otherwise this is a guess at best
deep cleansse alot, heat....and acv rince..your hairs prolly real dammaged

    i'll sumerize it this way
your worrying bout the wrong thing here
your worried biut the uneveness which is suposed to be there..instead of the chemicals which arent

deal with the chemicals and crap and the dammage done..the dreads will take care of themselves.

Thanks, Soaring Eagle! That made me feel a lot better about my hair.

The chemicals didn't do any permanent damage, I think. The ends are kinda flat and wispy, because she put weird black glue in them to hold them together for the first two weeks, she claimed they'd wash out, but some of it is still at the ends. It used to be on all of them, but then I used really hot water in the shower and most of it seemed to dissolve, should I just keep doing that?

yea man, if there's any shit in there thats NOT hair, you need to get rid of it. from just hot water washing and deep cleanses to the boiling water dip (be careful) if its that bad. Just gotta get your dreads clean of shit and then it'll all be fine most likely

    black glue..hahaha wow
    ya know what
id demand my money bacdk..even if it meant taking em to court.
u went there ..maybe lil clueless but fully expectying them to know how dreads are made only to get ripped off screwed up and caked in glue and who knows what..
kinda the oposite of what ya should do to get dreads really.
but hey itsa ok happens to alotta ppl, but still they shouldnt get away with that..seriusly glue?
theyre hair care specialists..hair care.. 2 words, wheres the caere in glueing hair? hows that good for anything?

id take exrtra steps to 1 remove all the gunk then 2 reopair all tghe dammage.

starting like he said, really hot water washes and deep cleanses picking at any clumpy messes.
    then
    your choice here
byuht just a heads up some repair things may be lil too conditioning and may unravel it lil bit thats ok tho

choices id try are..apple cidar vinagar diluted..or vitamin e (just a lil in a rincde) or aloe vera straight ior diluted
not often..1 good treatment every few weeks should be ok
