Good for obama, still don't trust him as far as I can throw him yet but good for him. More than likley he's either already corrupt or he'll be corrupted soon, you can't work with the Man like he does an' not get corrupted

K, I love the fact that it takes no time at all to overturn Bush's laws. This is so encouraging. Keep the momentum going!!

It is refreshing that Obama is addressing many of the small issues the Bush/Cheney administration thought he would overlook, and they and their corporate buddies thought they could take advantage of. He seems to have his eye on the ball.

We can hope that he is an honest man and is just playing the system smarter than the corporate interests having been playing it for eight years.

Remember all those jokes by McCain and Palin that he was a community organizer...maybe that's exactly what he was and what this country needs right now? Someone that considers the community worth protecting? That's who I voted for.

jeez.... the country is knee deep in a horrible recession, the D word is not out of the question.... and Obama wants Carbon Taxation!!!!!! WTF?!?!

What about solving the energy issue through the Free Market??? Oil is costly and hard to find... let the free market regulate it out of business, as renewable energy sources are getting cheaper and cheaper... a great deal of money can be made from converting to green energy... and when more companies switch, eventually the full infrastructure is built (through the aid of state gov't) and then let the individual take it upon himself to be green... it seems like everything has to be collectivist, with far more control, and far more gov't involvement, far more gov't regulation.... these problems can be best solved on the individual effort through individual responsibility. The energy savings through using solar panels for one's own energy needs are astounding... then both the company that made renewable energy affordable and viable is making money, and then the consumer is also making money, and saving the planet at the same time... that option is FAR more feasible than some federal gov't tax during a horrible reccession... wtf is Obama thinking???

Obama and Co. wants the effort to be completely a collectivist effort- where the decisions are made by a few rich men in it for themselves... when the masses must depend on the select few in control, the few at the top gain a great deal of power.. that isn't taken away easily...

The carbon offset market was developed by Gore. The foundation is already there, moneyed interests have sold it as the saving grace of this recession. Don't blame it on Obama. He's only playing the hand he was dealt.

Just where in that article did you see any mention of a carbon tax? I think that's a topic for a whole new thread.

    What this thread is about:

Want to start a carbon offset or tax thread...I am ready for it.

I can't believe I just read that. Not because I didn't like what you had to say, but it was painful to read through all those ellipses without taking a quick mental break.

    I'm such a wiener.

Wasn't the carbon offset market touted by McCain/Palin as a way out of this mess? Wasn't he for cap and trade?

Conservatives really do believe that the "end times" are here, and that anything on earth not used up and killed off is "wasted." At least according to the few conservatives I speak to at all.

It's good to see Obama has more concern about animals than he does the freedoms of human beings, or else he might have attempted to actually overturn the Patriot Acts (1 & 2) and all the various other anti-human, pro-totalitarian legislation put forward under Bush.

He's working on it. He's only been in office a few months. He just overturned the ruling on stem cell research. It can't all be done at once. It took Bush years to enact this crap.

Obama will not overturn any of the hardcore legislation put forward under Bush, because Obama is a frontman for the same people Bush answered to for eight years. Him and his puppetmasters will use stem cells and bunny rabbits to make people think he's different from Bush when he's not. Of course the gullible will buy anything.

Emotionally-charged issues regarding stem cells, gay rights, religion, the environment etc., is all stuff politicians and media use to formulate propaganda, creation division, and differentiate themselves from the people on the presumed "other end" of the fictional left/right isle in politics, to maintain this illusion of Democrat vs. Republican. But when it comes to personal freedoms, warrantless wiretapping, the police state and wars, they are identical. Obama openly supports all of this, so why would he work to overturn it?

In terms of big government tyranny, Obama is picking up right where Bush left off.

Which kind of hardcore legislation won't he overturn exactly?

I'd like to quote you for posterity.

so why does he bother putting tax cheats, war profiters and other various white collared criminals on his staff? all that's just a smoke and mirrors so he can pass the parts of his agenda that are ugly.

that's about the only thing i can find so far that i like about this man. he might not be bush, but once the teleprompters go out for a minute. he has trouble figuring out on his own what to say to a crowd.
