I was just wondering how common it is to get a false negative reading on an OTC pregnancy test. Is there some kind of hormonal imbalance that could cause these tests to read negative when the women is actually pregnant? I think my body and mind are just ganging up and playing a little trick on me..but I still can't shake the paranoia. If I can get my health insurance straightened out I'm going to try to make an appointment next week to get a blood test done to squash my paranoia, and if it's negative, to find out why I've stopped getting my period.
well, how long has it been since you missed a period? most tests are pretty accurate, and most call to be used 5 days after the first day of your missed period. I don't know any statistics, so i cant help you there. do you have any other symptoms of pregnancy? you should definitely see a doctor, if your insurance isn't worked out, see a health department. they usually operate on a sliding scale.
Well, I'm almost positive it's just my body malfunctioning, but here goes... I had unprotected sex on December 5th, had a very light period from Dec. 15th-19th, and haven't had one since. After I got my period I was sure I wasn't preggo, but then I talked to some friends with children, and they ALL had 1-2 periods after they concieved. Then I saw a childhood friends mother at work, and she mentioned that her daughter just had a baby, but didn't know she was pregnant until month 7 because she was still having periods. So that brought the fear back. I don't really have any other symptoms of pregnancy, so that's comforting. And I called yesterday and my health insurance coverage will start on March 1st, so I'll be able to get things figured out then hopefully. Thank you for your response, Mother's Love.
I'm pretty sure that you would have a test read positive by now. My cousin had her periods too, but she read positive on a test.
you need to see a doctor definitely. my grandmother was told that she wasn't pregnant throughout her pregnancy, because she had a period. any time your period stops its cause for concern. you could be pregnant, you could be pregnant but not have high enough hormone levels (it happened to me, and ended in my second miscarriage), or you could have uterine cysts or some other malfunction. see a doctor now. if you have some sort of problem and don't see a doctor, you could be risking a lot, including future reproduction. doctors are expensive, and it blows, but your health is more important than money.
If you're really stressing about it, that could prevent you from having periods, and having periods while you're pregnant is actually pretty rare. Good luck with everything.
Thanks. I was reading up on false pregnancies, and some women actually start showing when they are stressing about it. Pretty far out! I'll be going to the doctors office next week to settle this and know for sure.
My friend didn't know she was pregnant till she was 7 months . She had blood tests urine test 6 pregnancy tests .. thats good your taking a trip there
I hate home pregnancy tests. They're always freaking me out when they somewhere in the middle, not negative nor positive It happenned twice. And yes, here, in France, they are very expensive! 7-10 euros! Ans blood test is about 16!
