Okay, so it's making headlines and I'm hearing some people say that they don't think Phish will come back, and some saying that nearly 200 arrests isn't a big deal.

Here is a comparison to arrests at other places:
Hampton Arrests Make Phish Phans Look Ridiculous

It's a big shame that all Phish fans are made to look like criminals because of some careless people who invite trouble.:(

i don't understand how all of these people are getting arrested. i mean if a cop comes up to you and you have a sac of weed or a sheet of blotter in your pockets then just say that you don't consent to a search.

this kind of thing makes me wonder if there are undercover cops

even with the arrests in higher numbers elsewhere this recent news has changed my perception of phish, granted I wasnt a big phish fan to start but thats not to cool.

that was an awful lot of drugs though...

I have to agree. I think that the fans are to blame for being obvious or careless with what they were doing.

amazingly great band ive doing mini tours since 97 and almost everyone at the shows is so nice, it hurts me to see fans represented in such a way. why would they even make it news how much drugs got seized at any concert unless they were trying to put a bad spin on the fans and band... just my opinion.

I'm somewhat certain that Phish will return to Hampton. I've already heard rumors from friends who work at the local hotels at the Coliseum and city employees that there may be a possible return in December by Phish. I'm not certain how true it is, so I don't want to start any rumors, but I've heard it from multiple sources.

I have a few buddies in the Hampton Police department, and they all enjoyed the event, found people/suspects to be very cooperative and overall deemed it as a successful event. We have festivals here yearly, including Bay Days, Black Beard Festival, Jazz Festival, Neptune Festival, etc, and the Phish reunion concerts probably had less arrests than any of those festivals typically have.

The event was peaceful. There were a few drug incidents, but that was expected. I know for a fact that the city and the police department are welcoming Phish and hoping for their return.

The cops were generally lenient. I sat in the parking lot a few times smoking and saw many people doing the same with no bother by the cops. People were selling their bongs, bowls and one hitters, which typically in the state of VA would be grounds for arrest, but there were none on those grounds. Also walked around the entire area with open containers of alcohol and unbagged cases, as did everyone else, which is typically illegal in the city. I stumbled upon a squad car giving someone a jump in the parking lot, and if you live in Hampton, you know for damn sure that would never happen.

The cops were very relaxed and chill, which is a good thing.
