so my left hand is in a cast cause i broke my scaphoid bone.
on monday morning around 5:30ish i had my window blinds open and the full moon was shining through
so i sat on my bed left foot on right thigh right foot on left thigh (lotus position right?) back straight with my left hand over my right but since i cant really bend my left arm since its in a cast it formed a wall not the bowl
    also i was saying IM
so sometime in the 15-20ish minutes i sat there meditating i felt as if a flame had been stuck under my left hand (the one in the cast) and at one point i had the same sensation in my right index finger
    what was that?

I'm going to take a gamble and say it has to do with the alignment of your spine.

You got an owwee on one hand, you can get a sympathetic response somewhere else. Happens to me all the time.

One area on your body will tingle or whatever, and it causes a response somewhere unrelated. Big toe tingles/ ear itches. Stuff like that. Your nervous system is electrical.

Sometimes compression on the discs will cause little shorts in what you feel. They often won't relate to each other. Completely random.

I'd say re-adjust yourself and keep going.

It sounds counter-intuitive to me, however some of my teachers have warned against energy practices when healing from serious injury, though this is related to Qigong and I would have thought meditation would be fine because your not trying specifically to generate higher levels of Qi. However, if this is occurring, the greater levels of energy at the point of injury, which is where the Qi will naturally go, can be harmful to the rehabilitation. As I said, it sounds counter-intuitive, because Qi is most often used to heal, however, these guys are very experienced so I personally trust there judgment and one told of a painful experience he had practicing Qigong when recovering from surgery, so just passing on the advice. Always best to be sensitive and make your own best judgment.
