in some locations you can. i'm pretty sure T.H.C. up in ontario does sell spore syringes (toronto hemp company, i think? idk, some big headshop)

no headshop i know of in the us would be ballsy enough to sell them in shop, though, because certain mixes of merchandise, even if all totally legal, could be incriminating enough to shut down the shop

ah too bad. even though people say its legit buying them from online, i dont want to risk it. seems a little too sketchy to me. same with weed seeds.

I know lots of people who have ordered spores online, it's legal and they mail it in discreet packages. There's really nothing to worry about if you get it from someone legit.

the difference is that it's illegal to purchase cannabis seeds because cannabis is illegal as a species, and as such any part of the plant is illegal.

psilocybian mushrooms are not illegal. psilocin, psilocybin, and baeocystin are illegal, thereby outlawing any part of the fungus which contains any of these substances. luckily the spores are the only part which contain none of these substances, nor any other psychoactive substance. because they are not psychoactive it is legal to buy and possess them, but because mycellium and fruiting bodies produce the psychoactive substances it is illegal to germinate the spores.

the only places where they are illegal are states which have outlawed the fungus itself, such as california, georgia, and (if i remember correctly) idaho.

they are sold for purposes of microscopic examination, not for cultivation. there are individuals (mycologists) with legitimate interest in fungi in general, who need to know how to identify various sorts of fungi through various means. because external appearance of the fruiting bodies of many mushrooms are remarkably similar, in many cases microscopic examination of the spores is the best means of identification.

there are many legitimate, upstanding businesses which provide spores of psilocybian mushrooms for this type of educational purpose. some of them just happen to put the spores into a solution and into syringes to be easily deposited on microscope slides ;)

I know for a fact you can buy spores in some head shops because I have seen them for sell. In Spokane, Washington in one head shop I saw spore prints for sell and in an other head shop they had a whole kit for sell.

I wonder what mushrooms growers did before the 90s, since mushrooms were common back then too.

They went to cow pastures and picked them off cow dung. Now a days a lot of the big commercial farmers put stuff in the food so the mushrooms won't grow. At least that's what my old buddy from Texas tells me.
