Who loves bagpipes?

Well?

I think bagpipes are one of the best instruments ever... They have such a wonderful haunting sound to them...

They can be cool, and they can be annoying. Two things come to my mind when I think of bagpipes. One is this Nazi-ish Christian group which would periodically show up at school. It really got annoying when they'd be wailing with the pipes while I was working right across the street from them. The other thing I think of when I think of bagpipes is Korn. When J Davis busts out the bagpipes it's bad-ass.

 

I love them! They sound tormented, raw and soaring at the same time ( much like black metal guitars but I've been going on about that subject way too much already ), it's very impressive.

I'm just kidding; I'm a massive bagpipe fan myself. Celtic music is my thing. But the pipes are pretty much one of those things you either love or hate though.

Ofcourse I love the bagpipes I'm of Irish/Scottish descent. I tried to take them up once, but I couldn't make them sound any better than a cat being murdered. My cousin played some at my grandpa's wake and it was pretty cool. I'm always reminded of pot, like the drug, when I hear them, and I'm not certain why.

 

Heh, pot when you hear bagpipes? It's not too far out, I mean I get something of an altered state of consciousness when I hear Ravi. I love bagpipes. Especially in a rock type of scene. Flogging Molly has that type of feel. But I gotta put Seven Nations on top. Bagpipes and fiddle with distorted guitar in the background. Great grooves, plus they met at bagpipe camp.

 

I love em, i been pricing then recently because I have determined I want to learn to play. I can get a practice set of pipe for 169, but for quality, I gotta spend lotts. I think practice pipes will suffice for a while.

 

Yeah I've been considering learning too... Practices pipes probably are you're best bet... Quality isn't so important until you can actually play them well, and you don't want to spend a bunch right off, just in case it doesn't work out you know...

Bagpipes kick ass, but it can't be happy music on them, has to be sad music.

I'm mostly Scottish by descent, I guess it's just in my blood... I love bagpipes...

I used to go to this renaissance festival and as it was closing, these people would play bagpipes, but once all the normal people left, and it was just us rennies left, they would just start like jamming on the bagpipes and bohdrans... It was incredible...

 

Bag pipes are cool at times.... sometimes they can be annoying..... like there was this time there was a wedding reception at my work, and there was a guy playin bag pipes, just out of the blue.... now that was annoying becuase it was unexpected.... but i like bag pipes when they're incorperated into music, like Korn
