I've been wanting to get bamboo blinds for it. Last night I measured the window again to have them custom made. I went downstairs to check the depth of the window frame and realized that not only it's super shallow (1''), but the wood division in the middle wouldnt me to hang a continuous blind (It's really two windows that make a big one).
I either get two separate blinds and install them in each window, which might look weird. I need to go downstairs again and check or I get something to install outside the window frame and it seems like all the blinds and shades I look at online are to install inside the window or can I just put them outside? Please help me! Im tired of having a Wall-E blanket hanging there!

lol, I used to have a hotwheels blanket for a curtain...I feel your pain;)

i dont really have any advice for your problem since i'm not very good with that kinda stuff, my sister helps me pick out most things...I will say though it doesnt really matter how blinds look if you put curtains over top?!

i dont even know if thats true

but anything beats the hotwheels blanket, i'll tell ya that much:D

I don't know if you could hang the ones that are meant to be installed on the inside mounted on the outside. Might not hang properly.

I think at this point your best best would be to go with the two blinds and then maybe drape a window scarf or some other type of valance to cover over the top so the two blinds don't look quite as obvious. Unless you could find somewhere else that could make a full blind to cover the window. Where have you checked so far? I know JCPenney does a lot of custom work. Or maybe you've already checked there?

Haha yeah, this is the kind of thing I would want my mom around for. I'm not good with home things that I need to consider anything else besides if it's pretty.

The thing is I dont want curtains, I just want bamboo blinds, argh. Im looking in other places, hopefully I'll figure something out soon. I'm going psycho trying to organize things before the baby comes, it justs ends with me being frustrated when Im unable to do something.

I checked them awhile back cant remember what happened with them. I'll go back now and look. I was gonna order them at Walmart.

I just went back downstairs and I think I cant even do the two blinds, because most places require a min of 1 1/2'' and ours it's like 1'' and not only that, it's all weird because there's the frame and then this wood from the window, so there's like these two different levels. It's just weird.

i used to paint my bedroom window with tempra paint. it washes off. i was thinking maybe a funky painting with "holes" for light and peaking out of. the light will still shine though light paint colors.

i'm sure it's what stores use for seasonal window paintings.

You know what would look super cute?
Instead of bamboo blinds, get some light green panel curtains with a leaf pattern, get curtain rods that go outside both windows, that way, it looks like one big floor to ceiling window and you can part them so they look like french doors.

The problem with curtains is that our living room is super tiny and one of the couches is right under the window and we cant really put it anywhere else.

I might do something like that in our bedroom, which I want to be mostly green, like a light green. But I'm still figuring it out too, if I do that, I can really put anything under the window, which limits the space in the room and Sophia is gonna share the room with us, so there will also be a crib and baby things and it drives me crazy when there's too much things in one space, which is how it is now, but not by choice. So I'll probably end up keeping everything super simple.

We're getting some like that for the dining room :D
But dont worry everyone, I got the blinds situation under control.
We agreed on 2 1inch real wood 26.125 by 37 seperate and I figured out how I can make it work without having a big bump in the middle where the width suddenly becomes 0 :D

Boog I love you! We're going to SO paint our bedroom window! :D It's the only window that faces out to the street and the blinds were all broken and nasty, so we just took them down and have an ugly ass unicorn blanket as a curtain, lol. It doesn't look terrible from the outside, because the side of the blanket that's facing out is white, but man, it's SO ugly, lol. I think it may be in the background of some of my pictures, lol.

Cover the windows with cardboard, all of them.

Turn off the lights and turn the tv on really loud.

As soon as they arrive and I install them, ya you betcha dontcha know! :D :D
    Ok sorry, couldnt help myself.
But this was one of them moments (the very rare moments when I actually feel like a man) that it all came to me, and I visualized how perfectly I could manipulate a little of this, a little of that, and make it work.
Seriously though if you seen the windows, all of them in my entire house, you would understand how blown away we are everyday that someone could actually build a house and think them to be a good idea. I've never seen such horrible design in my life
