for me, it would be sharing a cell with 450 pound Tyrone who wants to take advantage of white men.

You gotta respect the guy for taking the fall on himself and sparing his sons. (and also probably stealing more money than people think and having it hidden in off-shore bank accounts).

I personally think that he's innocent. If people were dumb enough to invest with him, then tough shit. They should have known better. His figures were ridiculous, pretty much out of this world ridiculous. No one, and I mean no one can guarantee investors such a return. People were dumb enough to fall for it, sucks for them.

madoff ran a wall street securities firm that investors entrusted 150 billion dollars to.
problem is,he never bought one single stock that they could find.

now all over america little old ladies and men are returning to work, cancer patients are dying etc. all because he conned them out of their hard earned fortunes..

People should know there are risks when you try to get money out of nothing in the market.

Personally I think nothing would be as hard for him so much as if his family had to suffer some strong consequences for his actions, or for theirs.. if they were actually involved, which is likely. Prison rape? Doubtful. Isn't he going to one of those upscale white collar prisons for anyone who embezzles over $50 mil? It's not the hard core penitentiary, unfortunately. He'll probably have it easier than many of the people he scammed.

this boils down to the SEC not doing their job.

you cant blame the investors because the SEC never audited madoff nor responded to complaints.
on paper the returns were their. they received their monthly dividends. how were they to know there were never any investments made?
without the SEC doing their job they had no way of knowing.
yall are way oversimplifying this IMO.

The returns were almost always positive.

    That never happens.

    No one is that good.

I do agree though, the SEC did not respond to the complaints in time, but the complaints were made anonymously which gave them less merit.

Oh, so in this instance you want to depend on government oversight HHB?
