I tend to want to stay up late too, reading and working on projects. If I prepare for bed, it makes me want to sleep more. That means getting into pajama bottoms and turning off distractions like the TV and turning the lights down. It puts me in a sleepy mood. Things that activate and distract the brain will keep you awake. Don't count sheep! I like to do mild excercises, like stretching, before sleepy-bye. It relaxes me. I also sleep bare. It's very comfortable and helps me go to sleep. I think about taking the most peaceful walks out in a meadow right before I fall asleep.

a bath will definitely calm you down, if you have any soap or shower gel with lavendar in it, it'd really help. chammomile tea puts me to sleep really quick. you can read, turn off all the lights and breathe deeply, concentrating on your breath, in and out, in and out...

    Benzodiazapines...

Pop a few valium, xanax, klonopin, etc and chill for like 45 mins and you'll sleep like you haven't slept in years.

If I really can“t fall asleep, I turn on a cd (for example Joshua Kadison or Silverchair or him) and listen to the lyrics. Without it, I would think and think and think, which keeps me up.

Your body sets itself to your own circadian rhythm...but before I get into all of that crap, let me give you this bit of advice (and it kinda sucks, but it helps): waking up earlier causes you to fall asleep earlier. This includes waking up early during weekends. Yeah...that blows. Oh well. Best of luck! :)

Take melatonin a half hour before you want to go to sleep. You can find it among the vitamins at the health food store, it should cost about $3-$4 for a bottle of 100.

Melatonin is a natural substance from in the sleep area for your brain.. it's not a man made chemical. it's safe to take..and works well on most people.. unless your waking up at certain hrs of the night every night..like from 12:00 to 1:00 is kidneys..2:30 to 3:00 am is liver problems.. and so forth. improper food combination will keep you awake.. eating to close to bed time, smoking ciggs will keep you awake..as will alcohol.. if you start eleminanating or changing things around.. you may find what's keeping up awake.. most of the time it's an inbalance in your nutrition.. a lack of calsium..that's why they say to drink warm milk before bed.. some are allergic to milk and there-by complicate matters..best choice would be calsium tabs from a plant source.. just my professional opnion.. LOVE LOVE LOVE..

Melatonin is a hormone produced by the pineal gland which is a small gland located in the brain. Very small amounts of melatonin are also naturally found in foods such as grain, meat, fruits, and vegetables. Melatonin is also widely available as an inexpensive dietary supplement.

Because there is no testing or regulation of dietary supplements,it is not known how safe and/or effective melatonin is for treating sleep disorders according to the FDA and its physicians. Although there is a growing body of evidence that may suggest melatonin is an effective home remedy for jet lag and perhaps cluster headaches.
