I recently got a laptop for the first time and I've basically been glued to it. I also noticed that I've been feeling pretty nasty in general. Hard to describe, just a general ickiness and lack of energy. Are the two related?
Perhaps. I felt the same way. But perhaps it is more to do with "glued to it". The more time I spent on it the more it affected me. If you used a PC in the same manor and did not feel the same then it is your laptop. I've been confidently assured it is nothing the laptop is giving off. Don't get used to how it makes you feel though - switch off from time to time and have "holidays" from being on it at all.
maybe i was exaggerating. I've gotten exercise and fresh air, proper diet, etc. Just wondering if there are any specific effects from the comp after large amounts of time. I want to say the effect of the screen on my eyes has something to do with it, cause reading a book for the same amount of time does nothing bizarre. don't some get headaches from looking at a monitor too long?
Some people do. perhaps you do. I don't think it is the amount of time you sit in front of a monitor it is the constant flickering of the monitor. The flicker can cause eye strain, fatigue, and headaches, or it may even damage your eyesight. http://www.cnet.com.au/desktops/monitors/0,239029422,240001926,00.htm Even though your monitor/screen might be new and you would imagine less likely to flicker - that might still be your problem. Apparently, there are ways to alter your monitor settings. But, I just step away from time to time.
sounds right. I noticed there is still a flickering effect in my eyes for a few minutes after leaving the comp. haha
Flicker is a problem with CRT monitors. CRT's can be bad for the eye's. There are other negative things associated with CRT's too. Laptops are LCD's. LCD's are no worse for your eye's than a book, with one exception. If you use an LCD in a dark room, the brightness of the LCD in contrast with the room can be bad. When reading a book or using an LCD, it is always good to rest your eye's every 15-30 minutes. Here is what an optometrist recommended: Look away from the screen or page for 30-60 seconds. Focus on something 7+ feet away from you and blink many times. Also, move your eye's to look up for a few seconds, at the ceiling or sky. This gives your eye's enough rest to continue what you were doing.
yes it is radiating waves from the wireless and from the Electromagnetic waves from the computer in general. You should mail it to me and I will dispose of it properly for you. Contact me for my mailing address LOL
Have you tried plugging it into a monitor and using it? Or changing the display res and hertz?. Find small screen do me in big time.
Yo dude, you feel like shit cause you need to get off the damn thing and take a walk, enjoy the sunshine... We flourish in natural settings, a computer screen is not our natural environment. Dig your hands in the dirt, plant a bed of carrots, I bet that would help... also drink plenty of water.. no excuses now  also try Wheatgrass.. and Alive energy supplements..
The less time on a computer the better for health.Think of it you are sitting about a foot or 2 from a screen that emits whatever type of waves(I don't know the technical terms),plus these screens are bright ,they strain the eyes and a host of other problems too.I personally keep computer use to a minimum.
Just for the sake of passing along information, new items can put off fumes that can make chemically sensitive people ill.
This is true. China happens to have the worst reputation for it. No quality control and no regard for the environment or safety. They actually make automotive antifreeze in the same factories they make toothpaste and baby formula. Antifreeze is mostly ethylene glycol, which is deadly in small amounts, and tastes sweet in raw form.
