Depositing cash into ATM machines, does anyone do it?

The bank is closed for the weekend, and I have $1,500 cash that I need to deposit. Should I wait until Monday?

Of course deposit the money into the ATM, unless you’re afraid
of getting mugged on the way there

Yeah, I do it all the time. Although I'd be more cautious with the ATM's that use the envelope system. The new ATM's that actually count and verify the bills on the spot I trust a lot more.

But in any case, $1500 is a lot of money to me. I'll go with Scooby Doo advice and say, "let's split up, gang!". Put $750 in the ATM and pocket the rest. That way, if you get mugged, you still got $750. And if the deposit fux up, you still got $750. And if the deposit fux up and you get mugged, well you were just preordained to be screwed so don't worry about it.

 

huh i didnt know about the new ATM's. the envelope depositing system is pretty sketch IMO

I always deposit money into the ATM and it's always there the next business day.

 

Wow...I've never seen an ATM that you can deposit into...that's a foreign concept to my brain. I feel like I live in Amish country now.

 

I believe you can only do that at the ATMs that are at the bank. They have the envelopes there and everyhting.

 

The ATM at our bank is super old. The message telling you "Welcome to Pantex Federal Credit Union, please slide your card" is burned into the screen. Screen savers FTW! Haha,

of course you can...if its all small bills do a couple of deposits...the machines dont like really fat envelopes

 

I always used to deposit it. ANd I feel safe doing so.

But I would not do it with that much. That is just too much to risk a miscount.

 

Ever do a check?

My bank reads the check and gives you a miniture copy of it on the receipt. I'm a geek and love that shit.
