Hey guys,so straight to it....we're all here looking for a''better way'' of life. What I want, and I think alot of you guys want,is a peaceful place where everyone knows everyone, under the stars chillin out around a camp fire, sharin a smoke, telling stories, laughing together, stress free,happy&healthy-all of course in a beautiful setting.
Well,it's not impossible, but we could do it.I'm full sure these places exist already but I wouldn't advertise it online-would u?!
If I was offered a place in such a heaven,I'd expect to give a 'donation',what money I had or my car....whatever.
So if there's so many of us that want the same thing can we not just get to know eachother, decide on a base group of people and all contribute to buying a small spot of land???primarily living off the land-so near a river and good earth is all we need.
It seems this simple to me,what are your thoughts?

p.s. I dont have any money!but if someone has an idea of a relistic cost i'll save up my share!

    :cheers2:

hey man that sounds awesome. Ive always wanted to do that, but everyone is so scared of leaving society, even though when it was all created there were no societies. so its hard to find people to to come along, and i dont want to do it alone

yeah I know what ur sayin, anyone would find it hard to leave but thats only cos we're used to living through the same bulls*&! everyday. No one has to live in this society, they choose 2!but there does need to be some sort of order, saying that I don't want to be king of the castle or anything like that!I just want to wake up and go to bed happy

Im game. Aside from living nomadically, hopping trains, hitchhiking and seeing as much of the world as I can, I am more than willing to do something big.

By the time i leave, i will have nothing to lose, and only the world to gain. Just hit me up when you need a passionate philosopher clown who always pulls his own weight and then some.

The guy in the "Alaska Calling" offered a perfect opportunity for this. It's my belief that the reason why people don't jump and do it immediately is because we dont' have INFORMATION.

We don't know how we get food, get medical treatment, hazards, or anything like that. There's no pamphlets or thorough information. The reason why we're all stuck here is because we all KNOW the rules of how society works. We don't know how the alternatives do. I think we need some dedicated communers to change that, yah?

Hunting and foraging our own food, making natural medicine, living a healthy lifestyle and the way we were supposed to live(closer to the earth) is my goal. I'm up for whatever we come up with. As long as we all know basics of survival and living off the land. We can do this. It's a matter of individual research and then trust between the entire group.

im sorry didnt they create communes back in the 60s for just this reason?
There are still some around today but not as many as there once were.
Also check out intentional communities kinda the same setup you are talking about too.
Theres one up in atlanta near me that has a 5 acre organic farm thats pretty sweet.
I have 37 acres of land and have thought about something like that but unsure really.
    lots to think about.

Hey there, this sounds nice and all, but do have any skills to do any of this, or do you think with a group you can just go and get to it?
It takes serious skills to live off the land, and great knowledge to forage plant that won't poison or kill you, even more knowledge to make medicine and to know what illness to use and how much, etc.
What about making toothpaste or soap? I don't suppose you'll have a dentist with you, or equipment needed to fix teeth?
Can you make tools, bows and two pronged spears, weave baskets, or make shelters for both summer and winter? What about food in winter when their are very little plants growing? Can you make a fire without matches?

Just looking out for ya and giving ya something to think about...

I have many of these skills for survival, I do forage plants and use for medicine when needed in the back woods, and I know the hardships faced and the need for well practiced skills. I also ran a nature group in the summer and teach people skills when my friend asks me to go on scout trips.

    Here's a site that'll help you prepare... wildwoodsurvival.com
    and two books I recommend:
Tom Brown's Field Guide Wilderness Survival
Identifying and Harvesting Edible and Medicinal Plants by Steve Brill (this book is cool, it has Recipe's in the back)

Being Prepared is key to survival

    Peace

to completely live off the land in this day and age is just about impossible ...don't matter how good you are you still need society for things ....seed ,basics, clothes etc etc

I know I'd love to do something like this, but I don't think it would be possible or smart to completely rid yourself of society. I could imagine a community living off the Earth, but I do believe there would have to be some communications, modern medicines, doctors -- the absolute necessities. There are legal responsibilities as well when it comes to health, sanitation, marriage, sexual relations, etc. It would take a great deal of money as well.

If doctor appointments and modern medicines were allowed with maybe a specified "bungalow" for the needed use of a telephone or computer, it maybe possible. It all depends on how strict your decide to be about outside communication and possessions.

Yahh seriously. If somebody breaks their leg 30 miles from the nearest town you're gonna be wishin you had a cellphone.

I don't know what your intentions are with this mission, but just make sure to plan out every detail in advanced. There's a big difference between living in harmony with nature and primitive living.

Honestly if you want it, go for it 110%. but like others mentionned it's gonna be difficult and you need to be prepared. Do your research! If that means starting out slow, or only doing it for the weekends to start, then start that way. saying it is one thing but actually taking steps to do it is a lot harder and a lot more rewarding.

remember in all things to think with safety in mind.
