was up dreadfolks this was something i wanted to always ask ppl with dreads and i'll get to that question after this lil sermon: i dont know why but when i think of someone with dreadlocks i think of a person that is very laid-back,calm,nice and just goes with the curent of life not letting with ways of the world overbear them but at the say time compassionate enough to care and want to make a difference, someone who lives a freespirited but modern lifestyle meaning they uses dr bronner residue free soaps and doesnt eat meat and doesnt give a damn if they look like their flawless every second of everyday but still keeps themselves lookin good and knows the best vegetarian resturants and greets every morning with optimistic veiws and has the latest mac book and know exactly what going on in every aspect around them. ok on to the question: when you think of dreadlocks what come to your mind as far as the person wearing them whether its yourself or the ppl around you? ONE LOVE :D

i dont have dreads...*yet*...but i am many of those things you described...easy going, compassionate, just tryin to go with what life gives me so on and so forth...no mac for me though, can't stand em (plus mac's are sub-par for gaming, which is my main use for my comp ;)) not a vegetarian by any means...just had steak for dinner actually, loved it, my uncle is a magician behind the grill...i can definitely get high strung at times though, i get stressed out fairly often, though i think it's just cause it's stressful times right now...

as to my preconceived notions about people who wear dreads...well, i couldn't tell ya to be honest  when i think of dreads of course bob marley is who comes to mind, and then shortly after his son (i watched the movie "shottas" with a buddy of mind, it was entertaining)...i know i've seen them elsewhere, but for the life of me i couldn't tell ya where...jamaican, i guess that's the main stereotype i connected with dreadlocks, the wearer was most likely jamaican

There Sub par for pretty much everything except getting people to say how amazing they are and push them down your throats every 5 seconds.

sa for what i think when i see someone with dreads, very patient. I dont buy into all the vegetarian stuff im sure there are a few out there with dreads but not round here

macs suck i will never use 1..ever

but ..al;l the dreads i know pretty much are vegatarian at least if not purely ital
most live very natural lifestyles, many in the city yea but go drum in the woods round a fire every chance they get..others live in the woods in cabins, or tipis or adobe huts
they are mostly very spiritual..you could describe them as "high" but not from being on drugs
many do stuff for theyer4 communities in some way or anpther..or for the people ariound them
they arent very materialistic caring more about what they can teach then what they have..
some live out of backpacks wandering the world with next to nothing..but a smiole

several i know well trravel the country in a huge bus converted into a mobile kitchen sharing amazing (mostly) veggie food all over where its needed most (actualy, theres several groups doing this with at least 1/2 a dozen buses or nore)
most are creaticve in 1 way or another

Why do macs suck then? I don't use one either, but I don't think they suck. I have a shuffle from apple and it's great!

Macs have a certain place. They are far superior for recording audio in a music studio and I hear they are better for photography (but I know nothing about photography). I work in a music studio and all audio companies make there products for mac over pc. However, for home use, I am still a big fan of windows system and avidly use XP.

As for the thread topic, I have natural dreads and grew them because I like they way they look, and I like having long hair but found it hard to regulary wash it and do all the maintenance involved so I grew dreads. I like meat, listen to extreme metal genres, enjoy nature, and don't really care how I'm percieved by anyone else.

This is only because Pro Tools is specifically made for macs, however there is now a PC version,

The problem with apple is that there software is just so stupidly bad, they try and make them so user friendly that they are rediculously difficult to use unless you have never touched a PC in your life. I am however a big fan of their Hardware the Ipod is genius and my only problem with the Iphone is that the screen turns to a smudgy piece of crap as soon as you get it out of the box.

Anyhoo, if your interested in music and audio for pc. Audacity is a great sound editing program and is completely free to download. Also when it comes to photography just get photoshop.

I used to use Cool edit pro before but am forced to use ProTools now because it's the "industry standard" and it's what i learned how to use in school. But I have no complaints, it's good for recording.

hmm i was wonderin if you could use dr bronners to re-twist your dreads after you wash them like let them dry and use some dilluted dr bronners in a spray-bottle with some water to re-twist since it residue free no harm should be done right? mean insted of buy a product that may not be safe to retwist with, use dr bronners to spray on the dry dreads and re-twist

noo bronners is a soap if u dont rince it its a residue its non residue only when rinced well

u need nothing to retwist (u dont even gotta retwist, but if u insisat..dont do it often..use aloe..that will be better by far..or lil sea salt

mostloy the hair should hold together and sleeping on it compress it into knots

    back on subject
maybe some rastas eat meat, i dunno but im pretty sure the ural diets far stricter
holdon heres a song from a freinds band that will explain it
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=af9tYsC55L8

    liveth not diet
    listen to the words
    sums it up perfectly
    take no life

thats is 98% me, right down to the mac, 2% is the doc bronners bit, i use teas and stuff

its abit of a challenge though, i find modern + dreadlocks to be on the extreme opposites of the spectrum, there are days when i just want to pack up and move beneath a red wood tree bcuz i get so sick and tired of the "want" mentality in cities, i want a better house a better job more money a better this and better that yadda yadda, yet at the same time, i wudnt know what to do with myself if i coudnt just log on and google "herbal medicines" for example. it is "hard" being in stuck in this situation, i find i'm never satisfied

but i love my mac to bits <3 hehehe
