I went down to the Uptown Mix tonight to check out Rodney Crowell, and there was supposed to be a "surprise guest," and I had no clue who it was. I got there super late, like 20 minutes before they finished. I walked in and saw the most beautiful woman in Nashville and almost cried. EmmyLou rocks... I missed her when she was at Bonnaroo, so I was happy to catch her. A few years ago, I went to see Bob Dylan at Municipal here in Nashville, and I sat like three seats down from her. She was singing harmony with Bob and everything.... it was great. I was like, "I'm breathing EmmyLou Harris air!" It was a good night.
EmmyLou is WONDERFUL... Props to you for recognizing that... EmmyLou cut her teeth playing for our parent's generation... It's nice to see that some of us KIDS know "what's going on" ourselves... I love EmmyLou... If you like her, check out Gillian Welch... Ms. Harris would probably tell you that herself, since they are such good friends...
I have listened to a lot of Gillian's stuff... my step dad is actually her lawyer, so I get it for free... yay! haha... She's pretty cool. She's not my absolute fave or anything, though. But I do like her.
I Love Emmy Lou Harris, and Dylan too. My Dad had a lot of their stuff and I kind of grew up with them, and Joan Baez, Buffy Sainte Marie. Plus Emmy Lou is a beautiful woman. If ever with an older woman..........it would be her........................
Emmylou's solo work doesn't even compare with the harmonies she did with Gram Parsons. Those are so of the most beautiful songs EVER sung in any style of music.
I don't agree, Some of the newest Emmylou albums have been instant classics. I've been and Emmylou Harris fan for many years, and I have a lot of her recrods, including the ones made with Gram Parsons. My favorite is still Red Dirt Girl, which is one of her latest.
