I'm missing home today, so I thought I'd ask for everyone to share a few of your favorite Rainbow stories. What's your favorite gathering memories?? Mine is being up at granola funk watching fantuzzi with soaringeagle, awesome night hearing the electric cello in the middle of the woods.

spinspinspin of all these stories what's one ? um um um um 4ums . oh , ya , the faerie folk wee ones going about their importance so gracefully zip . i see they got a fine geometry to their importance midst our highest time . in love , tis the slow spiral rising . messengers is the absolute directly to it . but the last one i saw , huh , was a perpendicular intersector and then doing a slow spiral rising before me eyes and nose in the last light of that day just as the soul of the people all been singing gets secret again until again . until again - i hope so .

love ya chevy, your definately 1 of my favorite ppl, but that momment well was just like so many other magical momments.

all the best stories all the best momments all blend together into the magical tapestry that is the rainbow experience.

but, if i had to choose the momment from that gathering that was most memmorable to me was on the 4th.. the kids villiage parade, the tears in your eyes because youir kids ciuldnt share in it

another momment..remember the sister at drum circle i hugged and we both hasd tears in our eyes and after i left she left with the drum i gave you thinkimng it was mine not yours?
remember how sure you were youd never see it again? and 2 or 3 days later how happy you were to have found it again safely stored at a kitchen for you?

dont get me wrong i love seeing fantuzzi every time i see him..but i cant count how many times thats been so now its the lil magical momments i remember the best (like the tearful hug, and the hundreds and hundreds of backrubs u gave me while refusing to let me rub your tired aching feet)

Lessee----there's the lost Dad I reunited with the found kid after the fire in WY'94....That one got me hopelessly hooked on the 2-way radio thing...and the lost Mom I hooked up with her found kid in WV.....watching her face go from Scared as Hell to I'm gonna KILL that little brat! in .002 seconds was priceless....There were the two sisters from Russia that came into my parking lot on the same night on different rides in OR '97, and I hooked them up the following morning....Finding a Polish-English interpreter at 6:00 AM for FG in MI....

Not so good memory, in UT '03, there was the thief we were trying to smuggle out of the Gathering, and drop him off on the highway, so A-Camp wouldn't beat his ass, and the car he was being ridden out in died right in front of A-Camp. Insert beat-down HERE.....

edit: Yeah, that UT incident was not so pleasant at the time, but in retrospect, the car choosing that exact time & place to die is pretty damn funny, to me.

SO many stories, SO many memories.....

Good ones turnip.. And the only reason for that night veing my favorite eagle,,, was because it was the night i let go of alot of anger and was just totally completely relaxed for once. That was the best feeling ever.

headied to alabama we had directions to the sw corner, we get there see kids sleeping by the side of the road so figure we're close.. a bird..huge bird like a pelican or who knows ..6 foot wingspan easy, swoops down in front of the van, barely 2 feet from the widsheild and we follow it mile after mile till it disapeared into the woods..now lost withiout a guide we stop asnd listen and look, .. way far into the woods we see a stump, with a tie dye shirt and a paper bag
on the bag in pencil (so u hasd to walk right up to see it) was directions to a forrewst with the same name on the oposite corner of the state,
we go back and wake the kids who tell us they had been sleeping there a week waitting for someone to show them where the gathering was...it was that bird that saved us all.. (afterr the gathering almost a month later, rescued tge same group again 5 states away, this time from cops)
    sftrange coincedences

another, on the way in to the last new mex, the traffic on the fs road was like as highway traffic jam..it was mile after mile of bumper to bumper traffic.
our driver decided everyone must be lost driving back and forth trying to find it so she saw a road with tiretracks so defcided to try it
this road was 8 miles of treacherioyse mud with cliffs on either side, we had a 4x4 and almost went over the edge several times
aftrer 8 miles we see a sports car an rv and 2 vans stuck 30 feet friom the end of the mud (?in the duirection we were heading)
we helped them get out and they wanted to continue the way thet wrre going..they never would have made it
so we turned them around, changing the signwt the end telling ppl to go around the other way (the original road we were on)
which yes took forever to go fdown, but we later found the traffic jam was due to aw massive sheep herd being run eright across the road

sorry had to come back, just thought of 1 more that i just had to post

it was either colorado or ark, cant remember..pretty sure it was colorado though, one of the few times ya werent with me over by the massage spotnear trade circle (actualy yes it definately was colorado..i remember now) anyway
some brother stopped by took off his clothes dropped his clothes and a small backpack by the sside of the trail then went drifting away leaving his stuff there..hours went by and he hadnt returned so the massage dude (can u remember his name? we spent enough time there i should remember it) took his stuff and set it off to the side so it wouldnt get messed with.. as he did a wallet fell out of the pocket..with $1000 in it.
the wallet was returned to the pocket and everything clothes bag and all hung from the neasrest tree (but off to the side just fsr enough out of tye way to be semi protected, but still in plain sight)
the guy who left it there didnt come back for a week.
when he came back for his clothes the massage dudes like " ya know you left this here with alotta money in the pocket, thats not very smart"
and the guy replied with something like " i knew it would be here when i came back, and even if it wasnt i trusted it would find its way into the magic hat"
its nice to see that kinda trust..and trustworthiness which is so rare these days

Oh yeah,,, And camping out with Bilbo and Grampa woodstock in ned after the gathering was awesome too!! Me n Woodstock would go down to town and meet all the locals and everyone wanted pictures of him,,, So fun seeing all the normal folk warm up to him,,,how awesome is it to see people that hated us being there turn all warm and gushy cuz of him??? I don't know what it is about woodstock and bilbo,, but everyone we met that hated the family all of a sudden stopped and listened to what they said.It was incredible seeing everyone change their mind from thinking we were all a bunch of theives to coming up to our site and hanging out exchanging life stories! And Eagle... one more that i"ll always treasure.... When we broke the wheel off your chair and still made it to luvinn ovens where that totally awesome gypsy gave you her earring and we had the best night listening to awesome family singing and the artichoke pizza,,,, such a good night!!

What is that about people with lots of money in their pockets taking off all their clothes and leaving? We had that happen at the Magic Bowl in CA 2000, but the brother never came back (well we were there till cleanup started). So we took the $250 and spent it on food and a tool for cleanup crew~!

That same year we had a mentally disturbed man, maybe 400 lbs., keep hanging around to gorge on 10X his share of food every sitting, and we kept trying to steer him right but he was not listening. Should have run him off earlier maybe but one day when I'm serving killer cereal and soy milk to all he slipped my attention, ate a whole box of cereal with lots of milk, and proceeded to shit, through his pants, all over a log bench. We had to cut away the bench, burn part of it, and bury the rest of the evidence.

So luck goes both ways ;-)

yeah coincidences are cool, too. Or destiny. My two biological sisters went to a gathering in '95, but neither had told the other they were going. They both arrived in the middle of the night and woke to find themselves parked right next to each other!

When I was in school, and in the SCA, we'd call 'em "mundanes", a word which should enter the Rainbow lexicon.

One of my favorite stories is from MO'96, where I had to put the humor back into my thoughts of the LEOs after they pulled guns on my hubby & other folks in front of our kitchen (No, this isn't the good part of the story)

When the LEOs started driving their ATVs in, I decided that they were Bears on Wheels & I would call out the number of Bears and the number of Wheels. One day, along comes 2 4-bys and 2 6-bys...I yelled out the Bears on Wheels count and laughter rang thru the woods. The Bears had a completely different formation when they came back thru the other direction!

The wedding in the river/stream at the Arkansas gathering. It was raining, but it was beautiful. I was given the opportunity to stand in the water to hold hands with brothers and sisters in the water to cheer on the newly weds. Absolutely beautiful. :)

Well, I notice the cryptic assholey response was from Olympic Bullshitter. All I can say is he/she has an appropriate user name.
