Well Cheney and Bush don't take responsibility. What else is new? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/03/15/cheney-shrugs-at-economic_n_175055.html How's his portfolio doing? http://video1.washingtontimes.com/fishwrap/2008/03/cheney_us_not_yet_in_a_recessi_1.html I'd like to know what his net worth is, and what he invested in...wouldn't you?
Puppet presidents have little to do with the economy. Sure they contributed to the mess by getting us further into debt to fund the war and triple the size of government, but this goes back a lot further than just Bush and Cheney. The bubble was ultimately created by the Federal Reserve and people like Greenspan, Volcker, Bernanke, etc.. It literally goes back decades, but I think if there's any one person that deserves the bulk of the blame -- at the visible/frontman level -- it is Alan Greenspan, with his historically low interest rates that helped create the bubble. What's rather amusing is that many of the people who most contributed to this mess (much more so than Bush/Cheney) are now in Obama's cabinet -- people like Larry Summers, who lead the charge to remove the Glass-Steagall Act, which separted investment and commercial banking activities, in 1999. The same Wall Street criminals that helped to create this mess are now in Obama's cabinet to offer us the so-called "solution." Bush and Cheney deserve no more of the blame than Obama's people. But then again, they're all the same people anyway because they all take their orders from the same banking elite. It does not matter if it's Bush or Obama. Criminals run the show and always have. Nothing changed when Obama came to power.
Exactly, blame the people pulling their strings, I simply feel sorry for bush because he was led on and is probly still being led on by those who will eventually destroy all we have come to love about this country.
Is Bush having trouble making his house payment? Is Bush having to decide whether or not to have steak or macaroni and cheese? I have no problem asking any elected politician to tell me what they are invested in and where they get their money. If they are up for election they are not in my estimation puppet governments. Cheney do we wonder what he has for dinner or whether or not he can pay his housekeeper? Obama's not a saint but neither should he be painted with the same brush because he kept some of these sheisters on salary until we can get it ironed out. They know what lead to this, I don't think he's giving them free reign like what happenned during the last eight years. What I want to know is complete disclosure. Who made what on what?
Who exactly was pulling those strings Rat? Bildergers, other conspirators. I'd rather hold my elected officials accountable personally and not give them an excuse to beg off. I want to know what is Cheney's net worth, what is GW's net worth, what is Tony Blair's net worth? And from what did their wealth accumulate...I think those are fair questions for their electorates. If it's found that they accumulated this wealth by insider trading or on the backs of taxpaying citizens by creating wars then they can and should be held accountable. By focussing on conspiracies you let them off easy. After all there are those that call for personal responsibility by the poor. I am thinking it's time we called for it on the rich. Afterall we elected them not the Federal Reserve, or the Bildebergers, Halibuton or Carlyle. They are the only ones we can hold accountable.
Seems everybody's in the game. Some are just larger hypocrites. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123682571772404053.html http://www.nypost.com/seven/0314200...nists/cronyism_comes_in_all_colors_159443.htm
I agree. I don't care who they are if they are buying Porsches and beachfront property on the taxpayer dime. While telling us we should be happy with stagnant wages and lost benefits. Then blaming us for their excesses. I don't care if they are republican or democrat or who told them it was wise to follow this road to action. They are responsible. Maxine Waters has questions to answer, so should Bush and Cheney. Maxine Waters called the treasury on behalf of OneUnited. If her office was unaware that that bank had received bailout funds I question how well run her office is. And I question how qualified she is for re-election. And her husband is on the board...doesn't that constitute a conflict of interest?
Like I have said at least 100 times already, the same people that pulled Bush's strings for eight years are the ones pulling Obama's. It's the international money powers -- the central bankers which work to control the government through their various NGOs (the CFR, Trilateral Commission, Bilderberg Group, etc.). You act like Bush is the richest person in the world. He's got a lot more money than you and I ever will, but he is not even close to the multi-billionaires at the top, who had more of a role in creating this mess than Bush. Bush is a low-level frontman and puppet. To focus all one's attention on a stooge like him is a complete distraction from the real centers of power that work above government to control it.
We can't hold your huge conspiracies accountable Rat, because they are some nameless elite myth. But we can hold the individuals we elect accountable. You tell us they aren't important, but they were important enough to be run for election and elected...so it follows they are the first that should be held accountable. And should always be held accountable. To do otherwise is to totally give up and allow your conspirators to take over.
Cheney has more insider connections than Bush, but in the grand scheme of things he is still nowhere near the top. The people at the absolute pinnacle are probably those you've never heard of, but if you want to get a little closer to the truth, look into people with last names like Brzezinski, Kissinger, Rockefeller, Soros, Strong, Rothschild, etc. These are the people pulling the strings of people like Obama and Bush. Look into the British and Dutch Royal families. Look into former Fed chairmen, like Greenspan, Volcker, and the current one, Bernanke. While these men, too, are frontmen, they are much closer to the real powers than people like Bush. The private banks of the Federal Reserve, via the Fed chairman, set monetary policy -- not the president.
The thing is Rat we elected Cheney and Bush we didn't elect your list. And as an electorate we can only hold accountable those we elected. And some of us will do just that. Your conspiracy theories do one thing they diffuse and redirect the questions made by those of us that choose to hold our elected officials accountable. They are the ones we can hire and fire, you whispy conspirators we can't lay a glove on, but their power lies with those they get us to elect. If your conspiratorial elite's henchmen are hamstrung by accountability how much damage can they do? But if we throw up our hands and say we have no power, we have no control, they win...so who's side are you working for?
Both the Clinton and Bush administrations played a role in contributing to this financial meltdown. Clinton has acknowledged that it was a mistake pressing Fannie Mae for less stringent credit and downpayment requirements for working and middle-class families. Bush's part seems to be more that he oppointed Treasury secretaries who lacked backgrounds with the financal markets so they weren't alert to problems on Wall Street. TheHill.com - Clinton rejects blame for financial crisis Bush can share the blame for financial crisis - International Herald Tribune So both Clinton and Bush contributed in their own ways to this financial collapse along with others(Greenspan, congress, the SEC etc). I'd also recommend that people go to Youtube to look up CNN's Top 10 culprits of the collapse. YouTube - Culprits of the Collapse 3
I agree the Clinton administration had a lot to account for during their terms in office. Greenspan and the SEC certainly. These were the issues we should have been addressing during his administration along with the rush to push through NAFTA, and that is certainly something that should be revisited. It was sold to us with the caveat that it could be reassessed and gotten out of it didn't work. And it hasn't for any of the three countries involved.
Cheney is partly right. It wasn't just him and Bushie that fucked things up. It was also all the Republicans in congress and the conservative imbeciles nationwide who fell for that shit they served up. Unfortunately the "Grand Old Party" of morons still have enough power to continue to f things up so hold onto your hats kiddies.
With Rush Limbaugh as the head of their party and Sarah Palin their candidate for the next election their power is severly waning. I can't think of any of my republican friends that still think this party is seriously addressing any of today's issues. In fact many of my republican friends are hoping Obama can get us out of this. Many are praying for just that.
I think each person in trouble should consider what part they played in this economic mess. I for one worked hard to pay off my debts, and the house I bought was one I could afford, and I insisted on a 15 year note, instead of the 30 year note that the bank was "selling". I could blame Bush, or Clinton, or Obama for what is wrong, or for not being able to "fix" it. But the reality is I can only fix my own problems by living within my means. We have to move away from being a society that blames everyone else for our problems. It is not McDonalds fault that we are fat. The hand that feeds the mouth needs to be put on restriction, because that is the hand that has to clean up the crap that is produced. And if anyone here thinks Bush would be eating beans instead of steak if he had not run for office, think again. He was set for life regardless of his ever taking that office, and he will never spend all of the money that his family has generated. Don't hate those who are successful, if you want what they have, do what they do. I am sure that his dad took some jobs most of us would not consider because it was not the easy way out. Wealth is an accumulation of hard work, good judgment, and being willing to take some risks. And then not divorcing your wife and splitting it all up. If we compare our lives to those in many other places in the world, we are much better off. And we rarely hear them complaining about how bad they have it. Maybe they do not have a voice, because they can not afford the internet, or have a news crew that follows them around. If someone is going hungry, but has DSL and/or smokes cigarettes (or pot), then I suggest they need to re-evaluate their own priorities. We are not owed a comfortable life; we are owed the freedom to pursue one, without interference from our government. We could all agree that taxation could be considered interference, so lets bitch about that, and who is going to be demanding more taxes? Yep, my guess is the current administration. IMHO James
